Environment reflections on a placeable with a glass texture

Hello all!

I'd like to have some environment refelections on the bluish glass part of this placeable:
01_bro10.jpg

I'm sure, this has been asked before somewhere here on the forum, but I failed to locate a solution.

In a tileset, I used the txi-tech (taught to me by Zwerkules) on a glass texture, which has an alpha and it works just fine there.

Trying the same on the glass texture of the window placeable does not work / I couldn't figure out how to make it work.

This is, what I've tried:

Try 1.:

I created an alpha for the glass texture: glass rim + black holes = white, bluish parts some lighter gray.

In the placeable.2da I set Reflection to default (and Static=1).

Result:

In the toolset it's just like how it's supposed to look! You still see the bluish glass and some env.-refelctions!

But IG the alpha is taking over = looking through the glass parts (no bluish glass), no refelctions or they are not noticable enough...

Try 2:

Same texture with the alpha.

In the placeable.2da I set Reflection to ****.

I created a txi with envmaptexture ttr01__ref01.

Result:

In the toolset the alpha appearance is shown, so no bluish glass.

IG it's not transparent and shows a greyish plane, but also the glass texture does not show up.

I checked the mirror placeable, but that didn't help me much, since it's a whole plane with no detailed texture doing the refelctions.

So, what do I have to do?

Have you looked at the DLA Glass Tutorial? It's part of the NwN University collection and is individually downloadable. I don't know if it will be of any help but it should be worth a look anyway.

Depending on wether a placeable is set to static or not it either uses the environment texture given as "Reflection" in placeable.2da or the one specified in the .txi file. So if you want it to work as static and non-static you need both.
I think Rolo explained it in a thread on these forums in much more detail.

A morning coffee and I love this place! If there is not an immediate solution, at least one is pointed into the right direction! Thanks to you two!

@Tarot: I know that glass tutorial. It's not using an additional texture for the glass - only a material, but I looked into it again and found a helpful environment note.

@Zwerkules: That was a good tip. I tested some more settings, and I think, I figured out a working solution (see below). I tried to locate the Rolo-post, but I failed. If someone manages to find it, I'd be glad to understand this a bit more.

This environent thing with placeables was driving me nuts! At one point, I had a glass + env.-reflection - also IG - and when I added another one with the same settings, the effect was gone, no matter what I tried, but it stayed on the first placed placeable... It makes a big difference, how the alpha and the env. is handeled, by setting the placeable to static or not static (as Zwerkules wrote).

Anyways, this way it seems to be working:

For the AuroraTrimesh modifier aktivate Over-ride Mat Values. I used the default settings here. I did not do that before and I had these strange "works once" happenings (see above).

In the placeable.2da set "Reflection" to "default" and "Static" to "1"

In the toolset create a placeable blueprint and make sure, that "Static" is NOT checked!
