NWNCQ + some CEP models = problems

That's how some CEP models look like with NWNCQ. This here mr. troll looks like a zombie, or perhaps just a university student during his exam session. Some werewolves have their arms stretched behind them, making them look like a ski jumper moments before taking off. The main problem is with their animation - in-game they simply look like this all the time, whether they're walking, running or attacking. I haven't found such problems with any original creature models, only CEP ones.


 


Anyone knows what's the cause of this mess and what I should do to get rid of it? '<img'>

Sounds to me someone's messed with the original models they inherit animations from


 


I'm not 100% famillier with NWNCQ, but I know I believe both Project Q and CEP adjusted the ogres to use a custom animation set made by someone so they could do more things

               Those creatures inherit their animation from a master model. If you have an override for that master model, that may brake the animation for the others. Though i'm not sure if it's nwncq, that is overriding them on your end. An incompatible creatures.2da in one of your haks could also be the case

I don't have creature.2da in my custom hakpak, so I guess the one in CEP is used.


 


Anyone knows what's the name of the master model file, so that I can search for it in the override and check it? Actually, I'd be interested in finding not only troll's master model, but werewolf's as well. i think you need to open the troll model in a text editor and it should tell you the master model. then you need to search where the override is hiding. NWNexplorer reborn can help with both these things.


 


same applies to the werewolf model.


as a side note: it may be, that you simply have a broken werewolf model. say someone makes an overwrite werewolf, that uses the original werewolf model as master for animations, but then renames his model to overwrite the original... stiff models.


it can be solved by changing the model name of the overwrite model, and adding the new name as the model to the creatures.2da. this way the original does not get overwriteen and can still be adressed as a source for animation data

appearance.2da (rather than creatures.2da).


 


Might want to check on the MODELTYPE column entry. I've had "stiff" creatures before because the wrong type was entered (S instead of F, or F instead of S).


 


Checking myself, and...we may have a CEP issue.


 


Looks like the supermodel (c_ogreA, listed as "Ogre 1" in the toolset with CEP) uses a L type entry (large), while that troll itself was given a S (simple) entry. I've never used that particular appearance myself, so I'd not noticed an animation issue.


 


If anyone has time to check actually changing the MODELTYPE for that troll appearance to L and testing it in-game, I'd appreciate it (I've got things a family thing to do tonight that starts in a few minutes). It's at line 2500.
