Human body rebuild & retexture

the texture name can be found somewhere in the mesh (if you open an uncompressed model in a text editor), there you can add a new name, and then generate a custom texture for that model.

It doesn't work that way for body parts. Gunnersaurus is right, for the chest it's always pmh0_chest001.plt that will be used. You can change the name of the human chest model, but then it won't be an override any more.

There are ways to make the game use an TGA instead of the plt, but that won't help in this case either.

So if you want hairy feet for halflings, they have to be extra models and can't be an override.

Today I played around with the shading a bit. On the left are the Bioware default models, in the middle the ones I posted in the initial screenshots, and on the right the shots taken after I'd made a few adjustments (mainly to try and improve muscle definition).

As you can see, the change is much more significant on the male than the female, in large part as I was less subtle with the light/shadows on the female in the first place. Still, I think that the new female does look better than before, particularly at the arms, knees and feet. The male just looks better all round, and now the body is slightly lighter it fits better with the heads than it did before.

WoW " GunnersaurusRex "really nice work. Do you really know the impact this could have on the game? Character models was the number one complaint I keep hearing about NWN1. The work you are doing sooooo many people will use for years to come.

I just want to tank you for all the time and hard work you are putting into this project. I know I for one can't wait to use this. I think I may be able to drag some friends into playing NWN1 with this as well.

Keep up the great work.

Thanks, glad you think it'll be useful!

Right, it's about time I updated this. Took a little longer than I expected to get to this stage but May was a busy month for me. Anyway, I hope to upload the models to the vault this weekend after a few more minor tweaks, but the base is now pretty much done for all races and both phenos. I'll do variations (such as different hand shapes and belt-belly) later. I've also redone the underwear for the 001 models – as I said, the ones in the previous screenshots were just quick placeholders to show the skin texture.

Heads in the screenshots are from CEP (wanted to have something nicer than the default ones to show off the new bodies).

And finally (since it uses these models/textures as a base and doesn't really warrant its own thread), here's some clothing I've been working on. The top is inspired by the demon hunter from Diablo 3. Still need to rescale this one for the other races and phenos.

Absolutely fantastic work. It's about time someone did something with the character models. With such great tilesets being created it makes sense to have character models of an equal quality.

My only (minor) criticism is the texture used for the male body. It looks fine on the normal pheno, but the six-pack looks a little weird on the large pheno. I know they need to use the same texture, but perhaps you could make the muscles a little less distinct than they are (this would also improve the look for the other races). Besides, not every character needs to be a superhero.

Anyway, please keep up the good work. I can't wait to see you tackle the armour and clothes.

I love it and can't wait to be able to use these models.

Thanks again. Yeah, I agree the muscular texture looks a little odd on the large pheno - it'd be a lot simpler if they didn't have to use the same texture. As it is, in the future I'll likely do either an alternative torso texture or a belly that overlies it using the belt model. But for now, I've just uploaded these files to the vault:

Awesome work you are doing there '<img'>

Except the dworf female body everything else is extremely well done. Thats not your fault i just think dworf females looks ... heh.

Compliment for such a dedication '<img'>

Just a little thing i just noticed. The female shin texture -the knee detail seems to look better then the male version.

looking great, and the hak works well as a patch hak, too, so no hazzle with the override folder.

i realized though, that the tattooed body parts are not included in the download. any chance this might ome with a future update, please?

btw: which color is the underwear assigned to?

Yeah, I think you're right about the female knee looking better than the male ones. Might look to add a bit more detail later on. On the subject of the shin models, not sure if anyone noticed this but in the first screenshots at the top of the page, the normal human female's left shin is using the Bioware model (but my texture). Fortunately I noticed/fixed this last night before uploading to the vault.

And say what you will of the dwarven female, I know few other women who would react as amicably to a genuine compliment on their moustache...

Since the Bioware texture packs contain plts for the default body parts, messing around to get this to work as an override is a little more involved anyway (more details on that on the vault page). So yeah, the hak is definitely the best option.

The colour channel for the underwear is 'Cloth 1'. Or if you mean the actual colour in the screenshots, it's the dark blue on the second row of the colour picker (I think). Though that's actually when the characters have an item of clothing equipped with only the colours edited. When the armour slot is empty, the character's underwear will just be the default colour (the one at the top left of the colour picker)

As for tattooed parts, they're on my to-do list, but since the same could be said for a number of other things I can't say exactly when they'll be done.
