Kama Claws models gone wonky
« on: June 18, 2014, 08:35:12 pm »

So I'm adding in Shem's darksun "claws" to my module, along with the older "z-claws" package off the old vault.  On my system, the older claws have an issue where the texture for the 'grip's don't show on some of them.  So, I loaded up the models in max, toyed with a new texture, and exported, tested it out in game.....

And the claws are deformed.  Instead of nice straight blades, they look like they got blasted with dragon fire and started to melt a bit.  I didn't touch the geometries, I only changed textures, so I had no idea what happened.  I opened up the mdl in notepad, and I noticed that the spacing's all changed compared to the mdl BEFORE I mucked about with it in max.

Does anybody have any clue why that would happen, and/or how I could prevent it from happening?

What model specifically?

What are using to export? (gMax/3DSMax -- NWMax/NWMax Plus)

Think I may have found your issue.

I downloaded this -->> Claws 1.0 from the Vault

I imported/exported one of the top models <<-- It changes the geometry of the model

I re-imported the original to look it over.  The modelbase is classified as a tile.

It looks as though you may be using NWMax Plus, which defaults the tile classification to round verts to the nearest cm.

Easy Fix:

Right below the export buttons you'll see the "Round to Nearest cm" checkbox.  Un-check this and export your model.

or

Change the classification of the model to "Other" or "Item"
