Sorta kinda OT: NWN in 1920x1080?
« on: April 29, 2014, 02:01:26 am »

Happy day, we finally purchased a new computer and a luscious 25" 1920x1080 monitor.  We'd love to see our favorite game at that res. but alas we cannot.  The display driver for the AMD Radeon HD 6670 is probably to blame for keeping us from nirvana.  I know some of you have solved this quest for resolution bliss, so I thought I'd ask here.  I know this should work--the display board renders Tomb Raider Anniversary in crisp glorious 1920x1080 Lara Croft...er...yeah.  Anyway.  Is there some magic to making this work?  I've poked around in a few forums, but usually it doesn't get past "AMD drivers suck!"  Though perhaps true, that statement is ultimately unhelpful.  Any ideas?

Well it shouldn't be more complicated then simply changing the resolution in the game's settings either ingame or with the start menu option "Configure">[Change]...maybe in the configuration utility you need a fresh "Scan"

Note that you should not use Catalyst drivers over version 12.2 or 12.6 whichever works better(more stable) on your system. Any catalyst version that works under those numbers is also ok.

Good luck.

Personally, I find that at 1920x1080, even with a monitor of that size, the text is too small to read comfortably.

You can set the game to "use large fonts" in the settings.

What are the odds it will work with Windows 8.1?  We'll soon see...

Nope, doesn't work.  When the resolution is changed the image enlarges so that I can only see about 3/4 of it.  The rest of the image falls below the bottom and right of the screen.  Oh the other hand 1366x768 works with driver version 14.1, and after a moment to consider, that's a lot better than the 800x600 we'd been using.  Thanks for the help though.

I am using Catalyst version 11.4 on my Radeon 4870 and it displays NWN at 1920x1080 really well, with all the settings turned up to the max, except for disabling shiny water, like you always have to on a Radeon.

I'm talking about with large fonts enabled.  Without that it's ridiculous.  With it, it's simply unpleasant and uncomfortable.
