Is there any to turn off the tileset light source lens flare?  It's glaring through my shiny new placeable crypt walls and looks...quite silly.  '<img'>

I seem to remember that it's not possible, but I thought I'd ask anyway.

It is possible ... discussed in depth on another thread.  Let me dig a minute.

EDIT:  Ah, yes.  Found it.  http://social.biowar...index/9583912/1

EDIT AGAIN : In the new forums format (which does make certain things like screen shots and tables look better) - http://forum.bioware...ay-no-to-light/

Catch is, that its client side and affect every tilesets. While I personally agree its a good thing, some peoples criticed me already to forcing this to them via my unofficial patch project where I included this. You might end up the same if you include this modification within your tileset.

Let them be blinded by the flare, then! If they can't be bothere with such a simple and non-invasive method which took such a long time and effort to fix as easily as possible, they deserve to have their NWN look like a Star Trek movie!

Ummm... excuse me for butting in here, but it seems that everyone is missing a quite obvious bit about this whole thing.  You are forgetting that the flare TEXTURE is a NAMED file.  You can create your own NON-Flare texture (the one mentioned that becomes all black) but simply rename it to the NEW texture name.  That way, you never affect anything OTHER than what you are particularly editing, and won't trash other aspects of an entire mod by turning flare completely off.

That would require a single line edit on each mdl file, but that was already mentioned multiple times as part of this solution, so now instead of removing stuff from the mdl in question, you simply change the name of the texture file (on line), and of course provide that newly named texture file in your override hak.

That would solve the issue for any placeable you are editing, and NOT affect the entire mod or items, placeables, tilesets etc that are normally provided.

For me, I NEVER modify a main game element without first making it a NEW item/placeable/tile so that I never affect anything other than what I specifically need to change and/or edit.  Except of course the editing of 2da files where additions and changes are expected.

Anyway, if I am mistaken on the intention here, please forgive the intrusion and proceed with your own illusions as needed.

Okay, I have had about enough of this crap of people just plain being rude here.  If you want to provide alternate, or more helpful ways to solve a problem, then fine - do that.  Don't insult others who are trying to help and trying to provide some assistance even if you deem it to be non-optimal (ie. not *your* way).

How about trying the carrot instead of the stick?  A helpful "Hey, that's one way to do it, but here's another....and here are the pros/cons." would go over way better than the snide, tongue-in-cheek attacks I have seen lately on several threads.

Obviously someone needs to take a chill pill and re-read things PRIOR to posting such obviously mistaken beliefs in a public forum.  I attacked NO ONE, nor did I imply anyone was wrong or anything else.  All I did was point out an obviously missed fact that by the system using a NAMED texture file, you can CHANGE that texture file to be whatever it is YOU wish without interfering with anything else.  Geeze.

Edit: by the by, I sent you a PM instead of flaming you here in public as you so richly deserve.  I would suggest you do the same before attacking folks in public dude...

Funny that you are blinded by the lens flares but have no problem with the colour scheme of the new forum. '<img'>

If I had the choice of either getting rid of lens flares or getting a darker theme for this forum I'd always choose the latter.

I'd get banned if I released my full opinion of the new forum color scheme.  Politely put, it's...er...bad.

Yeah... i already told the biobulbs that this is/ was a clever idea choosing this color palette for people with eyes. They will never admit that it looks shitty and change it to a normal theme. No, why should they... they are the "biobulbs" now and can invent whatever they want and force it on us. I better die with eyecancer i created for all of you as to admit i cant design properly!

... So, i dont care if i get banned honestly. The old board is gone and there is a place where you can find me anyway.

I miss the old board and my frustration with this here grows... and i feel da heat in my chest already wanting to say things i should not... but me gollum inside keeps coming out spitting bad thoughts... be warned bio bulbs... '<img'>

EDIT

i might suggest anyone who uploaded a project should back that up... in case they just remove the content from our old profiles....

Thats called community service buddies. to tell people in advance what will happen and not just "bleng" random forum appears.

and BIO... dont tell me you dont know that this colortheme is **** and not good for your eyes. It forces you to move closer to the monitor which means you recieve much more rays as normal... so

You know, I didn't want to start any Bioware-bashing here. I actually think that the new forums are easier to navigate than the old ones. If only they'd kept the old colour scheme which was among the best ones I've seen on forums so far, this could have been an improvement.

They also already promised to add a darker theme, but want to keep the default theme the way it is now.

A very bad choice in my opinion (because there is no way this could ever improve readability and aesthetically it is a bad choice too; are they trying to sell computer games here or dental hygiene products?), but as long as there at least is a darker theme we can switch to I might get to like this new forum.

Just be glad we don't have to deal with flashing text, animated .gifs, .wavs that play on an endless repeating loop.

And popups, lots of popups.
