Gmax textures
« on: August 08, 2013, 09:41:59 pm »

For Blender there is a whole CD of textures available for free, while GMax only has about a dozen textures. Does anyone one know if there is an equivalent free texture library for gmax anywhere? If not would anyone be interested in creating a community texture library for it? I'm not asking for your highly guarded secret textures, just common stuff like wood grain and different metals here. Anyone?

I dont think so. When Gmax came out it was designed for the support of different games and not for any kind of rendering scenes that would make a separate texture library needed. I´m not 100 % sure about that.

Unless your download speed is very bad why not get your textures
here or http://www.mayang.com/textures/' class='bbc_url' title='Lien externe' rel='nofollow external'>here?

The textures from cgtextures are alot better than those on the blender CD and those from Mayang are a little better than the blender CD textures.

No matter if you get your textures from cgtextures, Mayang or the blender CD, in 90% or more of all cases you should not just use the texture as it is, but mix it with other textures or sharpen it, etc. This makes them work better for NWN models and it is important that the textures match each other properly.

I will need to investigate those 2 sites a bit more. At the moment the pictures seem a bit on the large size. It's not so much the download speed so much as the limited bandwidth per month that I have.
