I'm getting a crash during the unpacking of CEPv24_starter.mod, CEPv23_starter.mod, and CEPv22_starter.mod. Additionally, any module that requires CEP crashes during it's loading (after the unpacking).
CEPv23_skies.mod loads and works fine.
I'm using the GOG NWN Diamond edition (so it should be updated to 1.69x).
Any modules that don't use CEP, and all of the vanilla modules / campaign work fine.
Specs:
i5 3570K
8GB RAM
7850 AMD Radeon (using latest drivers)
Win 7 64-bit
Things I've tried (none had any affect):
- Updating DX9c.
- Using my integrated Intel HD 4000 graphics instead of my 7850. Using updated drivers, the results were identical.
- Renaming nwnmain.exe
- Disabling antivirus/firewall program.
- Re-downloading CEP2.4a.rar (I've tried this three times, and tried each on new NWN installs).
- Re-installing NWN (I've tried under it's default spot in C:/ and in my games drive D:/.
- Using CEP_2.3.7z instead (exact same results).
- Installing NWN on a Win XP Professional virtual machine (same exact results as before. Plays everything fine until I use a module that calls on CEP).
- Running nwnmain.exe (and nwn.exe, though this one shouldn't matter) as administrator, winxp service pack 2 compatability, winxp service pack 3 compatability, same results.
- Theres nothing in the NWN log or error files.
- I have the latest audio drivers.
- I can load the offending CEP modules in nwntoolset.exe fine.
What could the problem be? I don't think it could be an HDD issue, because I've tried downloading the CEP2.4a.rar to different partitions and installed NWN to different partitions, with identical results each time.
When I try to load one of the CEP modules that crash, I get the 'nwnmain.exe has stopped working' error. When I try to load a module that uses CEP, it just sits there trying to load forever, and doesn't actually give an error.
I'm not sure what else to try. Any suggestions would be appreciated. I didn't post this in technical help because the issue only seems to pertain to CEP.
