                Just to let people know that I have posted an illustrated tutorial on how to transfer files to the NeverwinterVault.org without having to actually download them onto their own computer. I have called it "A Lower Bandwidth Method of Transferring Files To NeverwinterVault" and it can be downloaded from here. Hope that someone finds a use for it.

The old Vault works, mostly. The important bit, hosting files, works. Email, Top-ten lists, HoF mechanism do not work. Spam control is still manual deletion (Werelynx is a fantastic help wielding that big ol' Spam Hammer when I get too tired to lift it :-).

The new Vault is getting closer to full functionality all the time and is already easier for new or updated projects. PM, contacts and forums all work well. Top-ten lists and download counts still need to be addressed, but are back-burnered. Spam is handled with some modern utilities.

The biggest challenge remains the migration of old content from the old Vault and integration with Never Launcher, which are related projects and coming along nicely (given how insanely busy Pain & I have been and how much we still need to do).

There are other things in the works, included several repositories located around the world, but that's the gist of it.

We are alive and improving. :-)

               Any chance the new vault hosted projects like CEP and specifically CP (which I asked maximus long time ago and received no answer so i figured its not possible on old vault) in special category just as on old vault?

I am not sure I understand your question, Shad.
The Vault is willing to host *any* NwN-related project.
But there is a difference between sponsoring a project (like Foundation and CTP) and simply hosting it. Part of the sponsorship we are offering for those two particular projects are their own sub-domain/website and specific encouragement by the Vault staff, in any way we can promote them.
Hosting a project merely means it is listed with us in a project page and either links to files or the files themselves are available. In other words, you can find them through us (or the Nexus or wherever), but the projects are still "owned" by certain people or groups.

Vault sponsored projects are under the stewardship of the Vault and are *not* going to become the pet projects of any one person or small group. With two exceptions*, any Vault-sponsored project is released to the community and may be used in whole or part by this community. That last part may be a sticking point for the CP, because it is so tied together. It is certainly a sticking point for the CEP.

We have only two hard requirements for sponsoring a project, though our policies will certainly evolve over time;
1) The project must advance or improve the game-building or game-playing experience substantially.
2) The project must be released under GNU General Public or Creative Commons license or something similar. It must be the property of the community at large.

All that being said, jump over to the developer forum on the new Vault and let's discuss this. We are building this place for you. And me. And that guy over there. oh, and definitely for *her* :-)

*The two exceptions are projects that have been dedicated to the memory of lost friends and are locked for that reason. Use them to play. Use them to inspire. But respect their memory.

               What I mean is, if new vault offers something like old vault did for cep: nwvault.ign.com/cep/

(I would also need to host wiki but thats something i can do anywhere '<img'> )

Is this the "sponsoring" what you talking about? If so the second rule is kind of harsh for me, you know I have some restriction for my content in order to assure other big packs like CEP will not add my content inside theirs projects.

               Having restrictions for specific parts of a project seems fair to me in general.

But i´m one of the guys who thinks anything else as

"It must be the property of the nwn community at large"

is the way to go. It not only has the advantage of giving others the freedom to expand upon your own creations and so it supports advancement but it contains the spirit of a "really" free community content wise. communities where people have to fear sharing their creations based upon others even they give credit is terrible.

There are mod sites for the "sims1" that still wants you to pay for their content. WTF:P

And i´m against to sponsor CEP in any way. I have no influence over this decission whatsoever but it has a bad taste imo.

Shad, you can do as much for the CP on the Vault as you want without being sponsored. You can make a multipage project post. You can upload embedded video. You can write tutorials and articles. And you can set your own licensing terms for the project.
In fact, I really hope you will!
The only thing "Sponsorship" offers is a website sub domain that will last as long as the Vault (currently paid up in full for 2years) that you can customize for your project.

I do understand how you feel about releasing it without restrictions. Otherwise I would have been nagging you intolerably to join the Vault staff ;-)

Personally, I think some day you'll need to bite the bullet and set CP free in order to see it reach its widest audience, but that is your call.

So host it. Register on the new Vault and put your Community Patch up with the restrictions that it can not be broken up (for technical reasons) and cannot be bundled (for ethical reasons).

@Baba: CEP isn't a bad dog. Nor is it a terrible project (though quite messy and burdened with low-grade ore). Other than quality control (which could be addressed), my (and the Vault's) only problem with CEP is the owner. Although CEP qualifies as a substantial improvement to the game by sheer quantity of options for builders, I rather doubt it will ever return to the spirit of "community" it was created with. Certainly not while it is "owned" by someone.

I can not hate with your passion, old witch. But I can certainly not give a damn with enthusiasm ;-P
