Invisible Placeable
« on: September 15, 2012, 08:01:27 pm »

Does anyone have a large 1x1 and or 2x2 invisible placeable that  blocks movement and line of sight they could give me?

Can you be more specific about the size. Do you mean 1m x 1m or do you mean one large square in the toolset? I only ask because there are some truly invisible placeables in my service pack for my map mats package (link in my sig) although these do no have any associated pwk. Meaning that there is no impediment to walking all over them. One other thing puzzles me, how can something that is invisible block the line of sight?

I am using Lor of Worms Seasonal Forrest and a few of the rock placeables that go along with it. But I find that when I adjust the z axis I loose the pwk. So I was thinking I could use some large (1 tile) invisible placeable to block player movement. I was also thinking it would be advantageous to occasionally have something that blocked line of sight, though those may need to be smaller and thinner. Those could be placed in front of placeable that the builder feels should block line of sight but don't. My wish list would comprise of a 1tile and 2 tile big invis placeable with pwk. and 2 invisible objects the size of fallen timber placeables in the OC, one wiht and one without blocking line of sight.

There's already an invisible object that can keep players from walking there in the 1.69 update.

Placeables -> Miscellaneous -> Invisible Wall (blocks movement)

FP!

I just made one that's exactly one tile in size. Want it?

CEP does have a few additional ones (small, medium, large). - or were these also in 1.69?  If I remember right, they are not in the pallette right away, but available as a source. So you would have to copy a placeable (or create a new entry) and assign the invis wall blueprint to it.
- Sorry but it was quiet a LONG while ago, that I set them up for our mod. I'll look it up, if you are interested.

BUT: Worms territory is quiet tricky, because the tiles have a very uneven surface. Since the placeable (invis) walls block the walk in a straight line, it will only block movement, when the foot of the PC is in line with the bottom wall line. You will have to place a few more walls, if there is a "bump" in the terrain and still, the PC may find a way to slip through. (We're using Worms and I use those walls to block movements like the way you want it to and it takes a bit of tinkering.)
The tileset have a plane/flat terrain as a feature. If you manage to use that right where you want to put the walls, everything should work out nicely. But, atm  I'm not sure, if Worms alone has this plane/flat feature or if it's an addition of SEN (in his addon) - I would have to check that too, if needed. (I created a split season-version of that tileset, which contains additional plane/flat tiles, but it only works in combination with the original Worms+SEN-tilesets.)

               http://www.amiaworld...c/tileblock.zip

There you go!

Looking at it now, actually and you can easily make other sizes out of this one.  Open the .mdl and the .pwk in a text editor. In both files you find these lines. These define a square the size of a tile.

  verts 4
   -5.0  -5.0   0.0
    5.0  -5.0   0.0
   -5.0   5.0   0.0
    5.0   5.0   0.0
The first number on each line is the x-coordinate, the second one the y-coordinate, and you're counting from the center of the square. If you want a blocker of 1 x 2 tiles, you could do this:

  verts 4
   -10.0  -5.0   0.0
    10.0  -5.0   0.0
   -10.0   5.0   0.0
    10.0   5.0   0.0
Don't forget to make the same changes in both the .mdl and the .pwk file.  Good luck with tinkering!
