tga to hak
« on: December 04, 2011, 07:14:58 am »

I am interested in taking the tga override files from here:
http://nwvault.ign.c...s.Detail&id=145

and placing them into a hak But when I do the changes do not appear. But they do when I have them in the override folder. Can anyone tell me what I would need to do to have them hak compatible?

Thanks!

In a hak textures have to be dds to override standard textures, in the override folder they have to be tga. Place some dds textures in the override and nothing happens (at least as long as there is a tga texture by that name which will be used instead).

Is there a way to convert tga files to dds?

DDSTools or TGA2DDS can do those for you, I think!

Thank you for the link, I was able to convert the tga files to dds but it seems they are all speckled with black. It almost appears that what was meant to white is turning out balck. I am not sure if anyone has dealt with this. Or could advise me as to how to proceed.

Thanks,

Run the tga files through tga flipper twice then use DDSTools to convert them. TAGA2DDS has always been wonky for me.

Still no luck here. I am not sure if anyone else wants to give it a try with those files. But as soon as I put them in the top hak it adds black pixes to the files.

If you can send it to vecna@nwnsmith.com that would be amazing. Thanks, I am curious to see how they look when I put them in game.

Thanks for sending me those. Yours worked like a charm. There must be an issue with my installation of DDSTools or... Nevertheless thanks to everyone who got this up and running for me.
