Oh hi!
So I have in the past used the PLT exporter for Photoshop with great success, but then I sort of went away from the game back in 2009, and many things happened since then. For instance, I got an awesome quadcore beastly machine that can run all my professional 3D/video editing/graphic design software quite nicely, installed Windows 7 Pro, and got all fancy with my hardware. Yay for me.
Except then I started noticing how old programs -- like the sorts that make progs for NWN modding -- don't work with Windows 7, or at least they don't work very well. So far I've had no problems getting NWMax to play just fine with 3DSMax 2011, but I'm having trouble with the Photoshop PLT exporter plugin. Specifically, it isn't loading. At all.
I took a look at the DLL file you're supposed to put in the System32 folder, and I noticed it was created in 1998...! I suspect that might have something to do with it, but I really don't know. Maybe it's goblins. Is anyone else using the PLT exporter plugin for Photoshop while also using Photoshop CS3 and Windows 7? If so, how did you get this to work? Does anyone know if there is a more recent (working) version of that DLL floating around anywhere? If there is someone out there who knows how to fix the Photoshop plugin, I will pay you in brownies to do so, and I assure you my brownies are worth their weight in platinum. Oh, and I mean to say brownies of the chocolate variety, not the little fey sort. Everyone knows they aren't valid currency outside of certain layers of the Abyss.
If this plugin is just a dead little ducky, then I suppose my next question is whether the plugin for GIMP does basically the same thing as the one for photoshop. If so, I might have to just install GIMP so I can have the plugin, do all my work in Photoshop, bring the file over to GIMP and then export it. But before I clutter up my harddrive with GIMP, I need to know if anyone on a new system is having trouble getting THAT exporter to work. Also, does it work the same? By which I mean: can you set up the nice pretty layers, hit export, and expect the plugin to sort all the channel mapping nonsense out for you?
Thanks!
