NwNExplorer dim...
« on: August 31, 2011, 10:09:30 pm »

                <squinting hard...>

Just a quick question about NwNExplorer and how it renders models ( working on my Gaia model):

I know that the alpha channel shows up black in GMax and I'm working with a lot of alpha (foliage textures).  When I look at the model with NwNExplorer Reborn v1.63, unlike the other models I look at, the lighting is extremely dim and it is hard to see the model.  Even so, I can see that the alpha is working correctly - there are the proper see-through bits on the model.

My concern is whether there is something off on my model (yes, I phrased that funny :-) and that the lighting in the display of Explorer is a symptom of it.

Does anyone have any experience with similar problems?

I'm not quite at the stage I want to set up an appearance and try it out in game... but that is coming soon.

Hmmm, might be good to mention I based Gaia off the a_fa.mdl.

               Sometimes things show up differently in NWNExplorer than in-game to me, so maybe you'll need to actually test it in game.

               Also, you'll want to check the "ambient" and "diffuse" colors for your textured parts.  You'll want these set to 1 1 1 (white), otherwise no matter how bright the area lighting, your model will look darker.
