So that they buy NWN and discover you can have fun roleplaying with your pals without having to buy lots of sourcebooks? I can't see how that would be in the best of interests of WotC. '<img'>

(Mind you, I'm not talking about BioWare or Atari, just the WotC licenses. I'm sure the Premium module would have been a big hit. I for one admit I have never bought any of the Premium modules - except for those included with NWN Diamond - and I didn't like their DRM scheme but for a Planescape module I'd have ignored alll that and bought it immediately.)

It's ironic, too, considering that as far as I can tell the Planescape setting was the most well-received of the settings at the time.

But probably not the most popular, despite the good reviews and the cult following? I suspect neither the Planescape books nor Torment were big sellers when they were first released, rather some kind of underdogs. For whatever reason it seems the majority of players will always prefer the same old standard fantasy that FR offers to them. Nothing wrong with that, I guess, I just could never really relate to it ... ':?'

I always loved the article written for the /tg/ board's wiki page, 1d4chan, on the artist for Planescape, Tony DiTerlizzi. Namely due to the humorous implication that Planescape and its artwork were better than all the other settings and artists' work, and thus WotC killed it because of that. Basically the Too Good To Last notion. You know. Like Firefly and all those other series that got canned despite being awesome.
