Problem with hak based animal sounds
« on: March 23, 2011, 07:14:21 pm »

So I've placed some animal noise wav files in a hak, attached the hak to a module, made a new blueprint for the sound, tested that the sound worked while making the blueprint, dropped the sound on the map and nothing.  No sound comes out either in the toolset or in game.  Any ideas what I screwed up this time?

I've looked at the Custom Content Guide, page 156 (placeable sounds) and the link listed there  and nothing jumped out at me as to what the problem is.

Hmmm I was suspecting a 2da issue... but I see no mention of them there.

I assume you've added the hak to your module and the hak file is in your /hak directory.

I don't see anything standing out, but I don't have a chance to edit at the moment.

               Heya Calvin,

I didn't see a 2da that would need to be used?  The sounds do show up in the toolset (so yes the hak is in place).  I can even manually play them by editing the blueprint and pressing play.  This has me stumped.

So are wav files tricky like loadscreens are (must be 24 bit tga or they sulk and don't work) or inventory icons which must be very specific dimensions?

They got to be mono, not stereo if I recall that right.

Ooops, I shoulda considered that in my suggestions.  My bad.

I've been extremely busy, sorta had forgotten about this.

Yeah they have to be 192kbps mono if I remember right....   The others could tell you the exact format I hope.. or you can try and find the sound tutorials....
