Damage bonus against race weapon property

Why wear two rings of the same damage type when damage resistance does not stack but damage vulnerability does?

Not what I said.  My point was that instead of having an anti cold ring, an anti fire ring, anti acid, anti...and so on...you now have *two* (or more) of each to use.  Isn't that your goal?  To have people switch between the rings depending on the size of the cold (or whatever type) damage hits?

Your calculations are slightly off as well as the epic ring is only best up to 20 damage (for 35 damage the player receives 41.25 damage not 36).  From 20-33 damage one would the normal ring is best and from 34-50 damage the lesser ring is best, above 50 damage no ring is best.

Did you edit your post?  I would have sworn that the last ring said 25/- resist and 75% DV and that's what my math is based on.

But regardless of that, when we get to 20+ damage the effect of the rings gets tiny very quickly -- talking less than 10% past 30 damage, for example.  So the effect of the rings simply seems to be "ignore bonus damage from weapons/auras?"  I'm not seeing how this is interesting and adding depth (the combination of DR and DV), it just seems like needless complexity that doesn't improve gameplay.

Even in your ideal situation, we've gone from

"Hero!  The Red Dragon is threatening our village!  Wear your fire protection ring!"

"Hero!  The Storm Giant is threatening our village!  Wear your electrical protection ring!"

"Hero!  The Fire Elemental is threatening our village!  Wear your fire protection ring!"

"Hero!  The Cleric of Talos is threatening our village!  Wear your electrical protection ring!"

to

"Hero!  The Red Dragon is threatening our village!  Wear your fire protection ring against BIG hits!"

"Hero!  The Storm Giant is threatening our village!  Wear your electrical protection ring against SMALL hits!"

"Hero!  The Fire Elemental is threatening our village!  Wear your fire protection ring against SMALL hits!"

"Hero!  The Cleric of Talos is threatening our village!  Wear your electrical protection ring against BIG hits!"

We're still just changing the name of our ring based on the color of the enemy's damage.  And if changing the ring won't even make a significant difference in the fight...that almost seems even worse.
