How do I install this armor mod?
« on: May 05, 2014, 02:26:42 am »

I've been struggling for the past few hours on how to install this Armor mod at the Neverwinter Vault website:

http://nwvault.ign.c....Detail&id=6908

The author doesn't include any installation instructions, so I'm completely lost. Usually, I know how to install mods that come with just the .Hak files and mods that are only needed to be extracted to the override folder, but I don't know what to do with the .Erf. So, I download the mod and extract the .HAK and the .ERF file to their respective directories (.HAK and .ERF folder in NWN Directory).

I boot up the Neverwinter Toolset, went to EDIT --> MODULE PROPERTIES --> CUSTOM CONTENT and added the respective file associated with the mod (dlalisa_tikcar), then clicked 'OK.' Then, I went to IMPORT --> dLaLisa_tikcar.Erf (named of Erf that's part of the mod package), pick SELECT ALL, then click OK. Everything loads ok, then I exit and it asks if I want to save, then I do. I do all of these steps and the armor doesn't appear in the game, how do I add it?

I'm not sure if this mod adds an entire new set of armor or it just adds more PC customization parts (if anyone could clarify, I would GREATLY appreciate it).

If anyone knows how to install the mod, I would greatly appreciate it!! Thanks in advance!

***Also, I have version 1.69 and all of the expansions and premium modules if that helps.***

It sounds like you installed the add-on correctly, but you may have the wrong impression of what it gives you. Most add-ons like that make new creatures, equipment, models, or item parts available to the mod-designer, it doesn't make it available in stores or as treasure drops. After installing the add-on, I expect that you would have extra options available in the Toolset for designing or changing a module.

In this case, after a brief look at that the HAK and ERF, it looks like the add-on gives the designer some extra items (Caramon and Tika's armor designs, without properties. You could modify those in the Toolset to have properties and then add them to one or more stores' inventories (they should be under Items -> Custom -> Armor -> Ckothing in the Toolset ("Commoner's Tunic", I think). Or you could use the console to spawn them in the game using their resrefs.

Similarly, the add-on includes the Caramon and Tika creatures that you could add as NPCs if you are designing a module. Same deal with the armor parts, I think.

Anyway, the short of it is that the add-on gives you some designs (for characters and gear) that you can use the Toolset to add to your module. But, none of the gear or characters will be very useful if you don't use the Toolset to make them appear in the module somewhere.

You can also use the CCOH - http://nwvault.ign.c...id=8760&id=6445 to make it appear ingame after you have added the Hak to your Mod.
