Replacement for GameSpy server list gone AWOL

Is there a way to tell Vanilla NWN to point to a different service? And then list ourselves there? Or are we now limited to word of mouth?

Could be possible, but may be difficult. A website-type service might be easier. Really, this is do-able, we just need some kind of...Y'know. Universal thing. Like what Gamespy was, or what NWVault kind of is for resources. Except one for servers.

Inconvenient? Yes. Possible? Certainly. May be better options, though.

A better option would be bioware, atari, and EA actually stepping up and providing a guaranteed for a service inherent on a product they produced.

http://social.biowar.../index/14853297

And I will modify this petition:
http://www.change.or...erver-for-nwn-1#

http://social.biowar.../index/13928357

To also include this service.

Considering Atari isn't the publisher of the game anymore, I really can't see anything convincing them to get involved.

I've added Mistledale and TheHub to the Action servers list and the Harry Potter and GM_ODA servers to the Role Play list. (Accidentally put GM_ODA in Action but now fixed).

Let me know if any details are wrong or change, or if you don't want to be listed.

Edit: Mistledale server listing moved to the correct category.

Mistledale's listing has been moved to the correct category.

Keep the information flowing, folks.  I'll update the list at least every 24 hours over the next few days and at least weekly after that until or unless the list becomes redundant.

I have sent a problem report to gog.com since they are now the only official distributor for nwn1 (diamond edition) and this affects them indirectly since it reduces the marketability of the game.

I included a hint that they may be able to have the GameSpy list restored and gave them the URL for my forum and permission to link to it.

I once found this URL to do a direct check:
http://tools.poweredbygamespy.com/masterserver/index.aspx?gamename=nwn&fields=\\details\\numplayers\\&overridemaster=&filter=

But it doesn't show any servers ATM, probably due to the same problem. But maybe this is of help to someone.

Thanks for your effords M_K!

There are at least two and possibly three people in the nwn community working on a replacement for gamespy.  I'll keep the forum going and updated at least until one of these alternatives comes online for real.  Even then, I'll leave the forum going as an alternative.

This topic needs a bump so people can see it.  If a mod is around, could you please sticky it?
