Dear everyone,
I am declaring this petition a defeat. Bringing back the Masterserver, and Gamespy service is almost certainly not going to happen. But I do believe that the NWN 1 community has come up with, albeit not perfect, but sufficient alternatives to these losses of services/functionality, and furthermore Bioware has done their part in informing the community about the situation, and disseminating the information regarding the alternatives that exist.
I want to thank the community who came up with the work arounds, the players who voiced their heartfelt opinions and sadness at the loss of these services, and Bioware for not abandoning us and for giving us a show of good faith by doing their part to inform people about the current state of things.
Even though this petition did not have it’s original intended effect (full restoration of these features), I consider it a victory in the sense that it affected positive change within our community, and I want to thank you all again for being involved. We had over 230 voices speak up, and had this been started when we first lost the masterserver I have no doubt it would have been 10x or more that. Everyone should be proud for their participation in this grass roots activism, and happy it resulted in something positive, and grateful to those who made it happen (first and foremost the community members who came up with the alternatives.)
