It is not any particular campaign that I prefer that is really at the heart of things here - moreso, it is about the DM and the Players.

Any old setting will do, when one has a great DM and a great bunch of Players.

I happen to have had an extreme amount of luck to have had Wheldrake as a DM and some of the finest bunch of Players that I have ever known all participating in the Crossroads Campaign, long ago - members of AMOOF guild fame... *sigh*

               As one that enjoyed playing every other week for about 5 yrs, the m/p Campaign is indeed a wondermous thing! I believe I have read that some have met other like-minded players and DM's over at Neverwinter Connections for joining such private games, though I have yet to test the waters there myself.

Yep, NWC is the place you want to go.

Although, most of the games there now are invite only, so make your interest and availability known in the forums there and someone will contact you (or reach out yourself to people who have posted looking for players).

               I can only add that Neverwinter Connections is a GREAT place to get started if one enjoys DMed games with a group of Players!

               Curious what you think after trying MP. Some of our games with a DM have rolls for attacks and we roleplay out what we do in battle. Really, the server worlds are so customized and different from the OC that I think you'll be surprised at what you can do with this game.
