Level 30 Powerbuild Help
« on: February 20, 2011, 04:59:35 pm »

Topic title is misleading a bit; don't so much need help as I'd like someone else to do the work for me...

Anyway!

I would like to put together a melee-based build with at least one level of paladin so I can use a weapon with the Holy Avenger property. Some monsters do upwards of a hundred damage a pop, so high HP (or a really good armor rating) is essential. The level cap is thirty, presumably to screw up normal power builds. For equipment, the server is local vault so I can create just about anything I can desire up to a maximum GP value of 129,999. The character will not wear a helmet.

So by "help" you mean you want someone else to volunteer their free time so you can have the end result you want.

Might be better off asking for advice and actually doing the messing around yourself... who knows what you might learn.

Several "30 and under" builds are listed here.

Next time I make a post I shall keep several commandments in mind:

Thou shalt not post wearily!

Thou shalt make an effort!

Thou shalt attempt to not sound entitled!

Can an admin nuke this thread from existence? I feel embarrassed.

If I had to call for a nuke on every thread I feel embarrassed of... there wouln't be anyone left to destroy our planet.
Well, actually... ''

No, in the contrary, bookmark it as your place of Truth, the one to come back to if you ever feel too close to perfection someday, the one which is always going to remember you who you truly are. :innocent:

I don't see a problem in asking for a build. I had been toying with the idea of Paladin/Fighter/Ranger.

If going Paladin one, you may as well go three. You get immunity to fear and Divine might.

A character that gets fighter Epic Weapon specialization damage, Ranger epic Bane of Enemies damage and Paladin Divine Might damage(if you can find Charisma enhancing items).  He would look something like this:

That would be really slick when fighting one of your favored enemies.

+6 to Damage from EWS,  2d6 + 5, from bane/favored enemies, + 2  for divine might (or more if you can boost chr).

That is one top of Strength/weapon bonuses.

Ranger is the only class that needs high levels (21+) for Bane of enemies, so a sample build:

Fighter(4), Paladin(3), Ranger(23), Human

01:  Fighter(1): Power Attack, Toughness, Cleave
02:  Fighter(2): Weapon Focus: Longsword
03:  Paladin(1): Blind Fight
04:  Paladin(2): STR+1, {Smite Evil}, (STR=17)
05:  Ranger(1): Favored Enemy: Humans, {Dual Wield}
06:  Paladin(3): Divine Might
07:  Ranger(2)
08:  Fighter(3): STR+1, (STR=18)
09:  Ranger(3): Improved Critical: Longsword
10:  Ranger(4)
11:  Ranger(5): Favored Enemy: Dwarves
12:  Ranger(6): STR+1, Knockdown, (STR=19)
13:  Ranger(7)
14:  Ranger(8)
15:  Ranger(9): Dodge, {Improved Two-Weapon Fighting}
16:  Ranger(10): STR+1, Favored Enemy: Elves, (STR=20)
17:  Ranger(11)
18:  Ranger(12): Weapon Proficiency Exotic
19:  Ranger(13)
20:  Ranger(14): STR+1, (STR=21)
21:  Ranger(15): Epic Weapon Focus: Longsword, Favored Enemy: Undeads
22:  Ranger(16)
23:  Ranger(17)
24:  Fighter(4): STR+1, Weapon Specialization: Longsword, Epic Weapon Specialization: Longsword, (STR=22)
25:  Ranger(18)
26:  Ranger(19)
27:  Ranger(20): Armor Skin, Favored Enemy: Outsiders
28:  Ranger(21): STR+1, (STR=23)
29:  Ranger(22)
30:  Ranger(23): Bane of Enemies, Favored Enemy: Aberrations

For skills:
I put a few in Animal Empathy for the heck of it.
I like 1 point to activate rogue skills cross class, because with items you can still open a lot.
Disipline maxed to resist combat actions(knockdown/disarm).
Search Maxed to avoid traps/find secrets.
Listen maxed to find sneakers who likely have more points in hide than move silently.
Tumble maxed cross class for 3 AC boost.

Animal Empathy 10(12), Disable Trap 1(1),
Discipline 33(39), Listen 33(32), Open Lock 1(3), Pick Pocket 1(3), Search
 33(33), Tumble 15(17)
