I have always played NWN as a "pure" melee type character (no spell caster splashes) because it is "easier" and more my style. Thus I tend to pick Tomi in the OC for traps & locked chests/doors. I decided to start a new character with some changes as I keep seeing nifty gear for casters in higher levels.
I went with a Cleric/Fighter (right now 3 cleric w/ 1 splash fighter) - I chose Knowledge & Magic as my cleric spheres and.. wow. Knock + Detect Trap = bye bye Tomi! Large AoE detection and removal of traps and unlocking of stuff?! Gah! Why didn't I think to try this before?!
The only Knock spell I ever had experience with was a Single Target (PnP and I think BG/IWD) spell - not a huge range AoE.
Loving my Cleric/Fighter already - even more than my other recent creation (Barb 12/Fighter 2 in Chap 3 of OC right now). I have the protection of being able to wear any armor in the game (Divine Casting
'>), jump into Melee just fine (cleric proficiencies and fighter splash), and now I don't really need a thief [so far - I don't know the DC limits on Knock & Detect Trap]
