A problem with NWN complete.
« on: September 03, 2013, 06:41:17 am »

Hello. I bought NWN complete earlier this year and installed the NWN 2 part on an old computer I have still. More recently, I installed the NWN 1 part on a computer I bought and sent back to the manufacturer. I'm wondering if there is a way to use this copy I still own (with the cd keys already used) to play multiplayer instead of wasting $45.00 I spent and having to buy another copy, or another copy of NWN diamond edition, as NWN 2 multiplayer wasn't that impressive, (not for the graphics or gameplay, but for the lack of quality servers)? Any replies are welcome...

Have you tried? It should work. Some OS installs are a bit more tricky than others but all the nuances have been thoroughly documented in the associated stickies here on BSN.

There have been some conflicts reported in the past regarding conflicts that can arise when installing the Complete version but none of which are unresolvable.  If you do run into problems installing just the NWN1 portion, check the board for threads regarding the Complete version.  Just make sure you apply the correct patch to bring it up to v1.69 (I am assuming you are referring to the English version, btw... foreign language versions will only patch to v1.68 IIRC).

Worse case scenario, a NWN 1 GoG version is super cheap, around 5-6 USD and will furnish yet another set of keys you can use to play on-line.  I wouldn't consider the initial investment wasted in any event.  Sometimes it's handy to have a spare copy.                <playing the role...>

I have installed the DnD Complete version on two laptops now under both Win7 & 8.
The most important thing I had to do was apply the critical rebuild patch to 1.69, in all cases.

If you have specific issues, we'll help you resolve them :-)

For the record, I'm using/playing both NwN1 & 2, and enjoy both for slightly different reasons. I *build* only for NwN 1, however.
