NWN refusing to do anything on Mac OS X - help?
« on: May 06, 2013, 06:11:04 pm »

Okay so I'm using an iMac: Mac OS X - version 10.7.5.
I really don't understand what the issue is here, as I've managed to get NWN running on my Mac before - but that was before the Mac did a system update. I wouldn't have thought this would be such a big issue though. Nevertheless I uninstalled everything and I've been trying to start from scratch for about a week now with no success.

I'm using doh123's Wineskin wrapper (the same thing I used last time), and before when I got it to work, it allowed me to install with my CDs directly onto my Mac with no problems.
However, this time round, trying to install by disc was a no go; causing the installation menu to appear, but as soon as I accepted the terms & conditions, and selected the install to begin, the application would freeze and the CD would stop making a humming noise in the drive (like it usually does when it's getting read).

So, instead, I managed to transfer all my already installed data from my laptop which can no longer cope with the game onto my mac, and I've added it to the wrapper as per instructions.

Now I can boot up nwn.exe no problem - the initial menu appears as does the music. But as soon as I try to click on anything - Play, configuration, etcetera - the menu disappears and the icon at the bottom of the screen stays, but nothing happens. Then, when I try to quit, it says "application not responding" and I have to force quit the program.
I've even tried directly initiating nwnmain.exe, but again I have the same issue - the icon appears at the bottom of the screen, but absolutely nothing happens.

Is there something I'm missing? If anyone can shed some light onto this mystery for me, I'd greatly appreciate it!
