Uploading a Project?
« on: October 16, 2012, 04:33:50 am »

I have no idea of where this would fit.  This seems to be the best place to ask the question...

Embarrasing to ask, but is there a FAQ somewhere to show a noob how to upload an NWN module to my Projects?  Just point me in the right direction and I'll be on my way...

General Forum would probably get faster and better help since yours is not a technical issue (i,e. game performance, installation mishaps, compatibilities, etc.).  The EA FAQs are essentially worthless so don't bother hunting them down in the future.

However, in the meantime...

...at the left menu (left screen frame) select the My Content dropdown and then Projects.  It will list all your current projects and/or let you create a new one.

I know ShaDoOoW has listed a few projects on BSN so is familiar with the procedure and pitfalls.  If you run into any hurdles you could try PMing him.

               <zipping...>

The key point is to remember that these projects only accept certain file-types, only 10 of them and have a size limit:

From my Demonic project...
You can upload a maximum of 5 more files.
The largest file you can upload is 95.414 MB.
Allowed File Types: zip, text/html, jpg, gif, jpeg, png, bmp

So, only zip compression is allowed. If you want better compression, 7z it first, then zip it :-)

PM me if you have difficulties and can't reach ShadoOow ...

Then again, I'm the one to talk to if you want to put your project up on the Vault, too ;-)

<...right along>

Many thanks, HipMaestro.  The only thing I got hung up on was the URL for the project.  I don't have one as of yet, so I wasn't sure about the u/l.  And RoloKipp, yes I will definitely PM, as I had trouble getting the hang of uploading to the old vault, too.

NP.  I am master of all the obvious knowledge. '<img'>

Usually, when a form uses asterisks to label certain fields, it means only those are required to be filled in, so am guessing that the URL field could be left blank without affecting the upload procedure.  Worst case scenario: just type in a dummy URL (to your favorite comic strip or fan pic if you like).  Most of the fields in the form SHOULD be editable in the future to correct typos or status changes except for fields that are used to index the project itself...but the project gurus can fill you in better about the idiosyncrasies of filling out that form.
