Unable to connect to multiplayer server
« on: December 30, 2011, 04:59:38 pm »

After many years off, my brother and I are trying to play a game of Neverwinter Nights together. Operating systems at the moment are both Windows 7.

We were able to play a LAN game when I visited for the holidays, but haven't been able to get an Internet game going. We both log into GameSpy fine and see the same servers, but the one we're trying to set up doesn't appear. We tried direct connection, we tried finding each other on our buddy lists, but we've had no luck with any of that. Anyone have any ideas what our problem could be?

Probably you both need to configure your routers properly to allow incoming/outgoing traffic for NWN.

Try www.portforward.com - will be instructions on how to do that for NWN, and (hopefully) your individual router types.

One other thing that MIGHT be the issue is your ISP.  Mine, will not allow me to serve to the same node server on our system.  My neighbor can NOT connect, but someone across town can.  I have asked them to fix it, but they claim that the router is directly fire-walled on their end, to prevent folks from direct connecting on the same nodes.
