I cannot think of any other solution than downgrading your game to 1.67 - which will bring probably unwanted side effects as save games of newer versions cannot be used any longer, etc. But if you really, really want it, feel free to install the 1.67 critical rebuild patch.

Why do you want to do that, anyway?

Simply put, the old icons look better. Also, after installing the GOG NWM Diamond and applying the HotU Critical Rebuild patch all cloaks and their respective inventory icons are tan (and going through all saves with the Cloak Converter is a somewhat arduous solution).

I was thinking that perhaps it would be possible to extract the old icons and override the new ones after applying the CR patch.

Another option would be to SOMEHOW deconstruct the 1.69 autoinstaller and manually apply all the fixes and add-ons dropping the cloak upgrade alltogether.

You do know there are icons to the game that have been modified and can be placed in your overrides folder, correct? If you were not aware before, try hunting them down on the NWVault website. The ones I use were for a persistent world server I've honestly never been to. I just like the work the person has put in.

Look through their work here. As well, there are some which make it look like Ravenloft, but I have never used those ones myself.
