Hunting the Wiley and Elusive Patch 1.69

               I just recently reinstalled this game, haven't played it in years (Diamond Edition).

Where do I get this patch and how do I install it? 

I can't find it on the Bioware website. When I try to send bioware a question about it they redirect me to ea.com. EA.com doesn't recognize the game as one of their own, thus does not allow me to send them a question. I went on the Atari website and I can't access any info or downloads on NWN because the website keeps freezing.

Why isn't my automatic update function working with my game, that would have avoided all of this.

I would appreciate some help with this.

Do I really need this patch or can I play without it.?

Do I need to install all 3 patches: SOu, HOTU and Original?

Sure you can, but why would you want to?  You will be limiting yourself to play only that contnent and on servers that don't require it and there are very few of these anymore.

My suggestion is to run the v1.66 patch first, contained in your Diomond version (I am assuming you installed both expansions).  Then download the Critical Rebuild for English HotU contained in the topic

       Where are patches links ?, install and you are good to go.  If you are using a newer OS and/or graphics card you may need to tweak them a bit to get it to run properly.  There are installation recommendations within this forum and some driver adjustment suggestions around here somewhere, if that is the case.  Should you complete the patching succesfully and have problems getting the game to run, start another thread describing your problem.

BTW, once v1.69 has been applied, you do not need the disc to play the game (don't think v1.66 provided this functionality.)

                i have been looking all night long.... neverwinter nights DIAMOND will not work with the nwn english /nwn hotu/nwn sou patches. there is a single patch all in one bundle that nobody in this world seems to be able to locate anymore... bioware has ruined their website, and completely cut off anyone who might ever want to play this game again.. all i wanted to do was play nwn but because of poor customer service i might never even consider playing another game from bioware... their service SUCKS. 

anyways. if one of you nice forum browsers happens to know where i can get the nwn diamond patch i would love to know

My bad. '>  I'm beginning to lose track of all the patch links now and glad that Lightfoot stepped in to soothe the wound.  We really need a single sticky right at the top of the General forum with all the patch links in one place.  I hope it happens soon but not holding my breath.

Did you run the v1.66 patch on the Diamond version?  Check the version number in upper LH corner.  If it isn't v1.66 run the patch located on the DVD first and then if you have installed both SoU and HotU use the critical rebuild for HotU English that Lighfoot listed.  That should work.

BTW, it is EA that is pulling the strings of the former Bioware staff.  I'm sure if the former staff members were paid to continue to service NWN they would do so gladly.  But I suspect it would be an infringement on EA's intellectual property if any of them decided to just support the legacy site and access issues on their own,  moonlighting in their spare time sort of thing. So look to the community for assistance.
