« on: August 29, 2010, 09:53:14 pm »

While i just got the answer that took me for ever to find, fixed my update problem...
Nowwww i have another problem.. In create a character under customize I only see the body, the other parts are blacked out - aswell as not being able to see a damn chest to make it through training on a wizard.. freezing when trying to view the weapons tab of a store, things in store skipping items (one item there skip a few boxes see another one skip a few boxes) '<img'>

'Posted

( the blackout character customize )

Things are not appearing that are supposed to be there, just uhg right now - anyone had a similar problem that was fixed or anyone know something I can do? ( to avoid un-installing and re-installing )

.., Jay:unsure:

Any chance you've got "stuff" in your Override folder, or are using haks?

Yes to haks, just ones that are required to play the online ( which still doesn't work for me :S )

And by "stuff" what do you mean exactly?

Is anything in your Override folder?

Also, which haks specifically?  There might be some conflicts I suppose.

OK... try taking the files out of your Override folder and see if you have the issue.

Quite likely, something in those files is conflicting somehow with your standard content.  Any idea what those files do?

Take them all out and test - probably everything will work fine (hopefully).  Then put them back one at a time, testing to see if you have the problem after adding each one back... this should tell you which file(s) is/are the culprit.

Hmm well, admittedly I am out of ideas at this point.  What are your system specs (GPU especially).

Was your game EVER working correctly?

What I mean is: Have you ever played the game with just the vanilla v1.69 installed and nothing else?

If you have, then I would just leave all the haks and overrides in a temp folder and do a clean uninstall/reinstall then follow NWN DM's suggestion about the one file at a time test.  I believe all the files in the override folder are standard files that get installed with the Diamond DVD but you could still have a single corrupt file in there somewhere.

About all I can suggest. Sry.

Yeah, it accually worked online, offline (story mode+all expansions) Maybe about 3 or 4 years ago.. I just found the disk and was trying to play it again, on this exact computer too at that.. but it's just problem after problem.. Maybe time for a different game or an upgrade to nwn2? maybe '<img'> thanks for the suggestions, i'll try it again (un-install and re-install) with the files changed, but who knows it might be just the same thing.. Kinda hard for someone to fix anothers game over the internet (just suggestions - words..) Thanks again for ALL of your help, hopefully i'll be back with good news!!

(Accually now that i think about it, i had to do the upgrade patch when i got the game, which we already knew was going to happen.. BUT... I believe i upgraded to 1.67 from 1.66 (which comes on the DVD), about 3-4 years back (just trying to remember)

Aye caromba!

CEP won't work unless you are patched to 1.69 FIRST.':crying:'

Sounds like we found the problem, no?

You had indicated in another thread that you had installed the Critical Rebuild for v1.69 as per the link I furnished.  However, if you installed the CEP stuff (or even other haks that required v1.69) BEFORE doing that, things will be very "wonky", as aptly coined by another community member.

Time to go back to scratch, do things in the proper sequence, and everything should be fine. Just play the vanilla 1.69 prior to moving over the haks just to make sure one of the files isn't corrupt.

Keep us posted!

Ah... yes this could very well be solved by a simple update to 1.69.

Yes, i'm going to un-install and re-install before bed tonight (it freezes up when i try to do something else while installing) i have no idea why.. But hey, as long as it works.. Ok, so i have the link to the 1.69 crit rebuild you gave me saved still, so i'll give it a COMPLETE makeover and start from scratch and see if we can make this thing work ^.^

(And yes i have 1.69 installed at the moment, but i had the haks and the "things" that required 1.69 before i installed the 1.69 update) (if that makes sense) But in other means i'll start over fresh!

I'll post back with the results soon!! '<img'>

Thanks, Jay

For whatever it's worth, I do believe all the files OmgItzJay found in override belong there (with a 1.69 install). As I recall, the "ls" files are loadscreens. '<img'>
