Getting Creature from D20 without having CEP

I am currently making a game involving 2 tilesets, the Gothic Interior http://neverwinterva...s-gardens-addon


 


and the modern interior office: http://neverwinterva...iors-tileset-13


 


I want to gather some modern looking models and saw that the ones that fit my needs the best came from the D20 Hakpak. I was importing them and wondering why they (the NPC's) never showed up and realized it was because they required CEP.


 


However, that one requires CEP. My question is, is there a way to extract those models from D20 without needing CEP, or would I need to recreate my areas and use CEP ?

You shouldn't have to rebuild anything just because you add the CEP. Where were you importing the NPCs from? You only linked two tilests.

For a creature to show up, you need a custom hak which contains the model (.mdl) and any textures (.tga, .dss) it references.


 


The simplest way is probably to add the D20 hak to your module. Alternatively, you can open the model with a text editor (after decompiliation, if necessary) to discover the textures, which are named in the Bitmap statements.


 


You may also need a custom appearance.2da file in a top hak, adding the lines for your custom creatures to the latest Bioware 1.69 version (many older haks are missing 2da lines).

I'd be surprised if you need CEP, as it isn't stated as a prerequisite.


 


If it turns out you really are missing something from CEP, you can export it from the CEP haks using NWNExplorer.

Kalbaern, sorry I should have been more clear. I currently have those 2 tilesets and would like to use the creatures from D20 Modern. However, I can't seem to get the creatures from the haks loaded without downloading CEP and using the D20 Base Module. 


Proleric, thanks for the link! I was looking into the creatures from this hakhttp://neverwinterva...haks-version-20, since it also has clothing I would like in the game. I initially did not want to use CEP at all just due to the heavy content it has and was hoping for a lighter option. 


 


I'll check out the NWNExplorer.

According to the info on that content you linked, its compatible with CEP 2.3, but it doesn't say CEP is actually required. It does however mention that if you're importing the erfs, some appearances may need reset. I'd make a few custom creatures using those haks and just browse the appearances first.
