How to find the resref of a standard pallet item?
« on: October 06, 2012, 11:33:03 pm »

I am looking for the resref of an item called "kumakawa", but I am also curious how you find the resrefs of standard pattet items? Of course I can edit a copy, but then it shows an altered resref, and I have to guess at what the original was. Anybody have any ideas on this?

I think it is in the view menu.  There is on option for preview object or something like that

My habt has been to instantiate an object from the standard palette and then check its resref. But I'll look into this "view" voodoo that Lightfoot8 mentions. Sounds good.

The remarks on  the CopyObject  function in the lexicon make referance to it.

Lightfoot, thanks! That's very useful. I had not found that yet either.

Fwiw, there's a spreadsheet that has all the creatures, items and placeables for 1.69 and cep2.1
around. I don't have the link but I find it very useful for searching things. It has the resref.

Ver2__Creatures_Items_Placeables__Scrolls. I don't recall where I found it but I use it as almost
part of the toolset.

Also you can go right to the Lexicon.  Look to the sidebar on the left, and under "Categories" you will find a expanding list called "Resources".  Expand that, and you will see the following categories; creatures, items, placeables, and sounds.  So, for Kumakawa, expand the Items list, then select medium armor, and down the page you will find the name, resref, tag, and GP cost.  '<img'>  The same holds true of course for the other categories.  '<img'>
