I Need Help with Custom Made Modules
« on: November 21, 2010, 04:48:55 pm »

So, I feel really stupid for asking this because it's probably really simple, but how do you apply your custom made modules after you have made them? I have made a merchant type mod and my boyfriend has made an awesome forest but we cant figure out how to get them to play on the game.
Please help.
Thanks.

               1. Start the game.

2. On the first menu select "New".

3. On the next menu skip straight to the bottom and select "Other Modules..."

4. This will open a list of all the modules in your modules folder including your own.

5. Select the module you want to play.

6. When prompted either pick an existing character or create a new one.

7. There is no 7, it is as simple as that '<img'>

PS. You can usually test a creation by hitting F9 from inside the toolset.

PPS. You will get a quicker response on the forums if you use a more meaningful title, some folks skim through looking for things they can help with just by reading the titles, "Please Help" will not even cause them to slow down and look.

Happy hunting.

Maybe your character file is corrupted. Are you trying to play online?

If you are trying to enter an online server with restrictions (item level restriction, enforce legal character, etc.) and you have an item that exceeds your level, a hacked character,... you cannot enter.

No, I only have dial - up.

I'm trying to use my custom character.

It will load the character from level one, but it wont load my character at Rogue(4) Wizard (2).

It is most maddening.

However, I have used a cheat to mod my strength by about 3 points, could that be what is causing it?

I will now disconnect and try to load it onto the mod, then come back if it does or does not work.

thank you

Yes, that's probably it. Because you're making modifications, the server will not allow the character because it goes past certain criteria that would make a character LEGAL.

Your character modifications make your character ILLEGAL.

Play fair please. '<img'>

Actually, yes, your character is technically illegal, but you CAN still use it.

Open your nwnplayer.ini file using notepad or any other .txt file editor.

Under the heading [Game Options], scroll down until you find the lines that say:

Single Player ItemLevelRestrictions=1
Single Player Enforce Legal Characters=1

Change those to equal zero instead.

Single Player ItemLevelRestrictions=0
Single Player Enforce Legal Characters=0

The first one enforces legal items, swords, armour, etcetera, while the second one enforces legal characters....

Just save the file again, and then you will be able to play with your slightly or heavily modified character.

Word of warning, any character you modify will not be usable in online play.
Second word of warning:  Playing with boosted characters can radically spoil your fun or make any mod way too easy to play thus making the game boring.

               @Bannor Bloodfist,

I did that and it worked so thankyou very much '<img'>.

and I cant do online play as I only have dialup '<img'>.

Also, I dont mod alot, I just added 3 strength because I was a little weak.

I dont want it to be easy or spoil anything that would be boring '<img'>

Thank you again.
