There is also the new vault. Rolo Kipp and many ohers have been hard at work setting it up as a replacement for the old vault.

(I agree and am not sorry in the least.)

Dunno if you kept records of this, but if you could post a list of the projects you uploaded to the IGN Vault in this thread, it would be easier and faster to make them accessible to the general public even those that don't go near BSN.  Rolo's back-up seems fairly complete right now but is organized by category & ID so it's near impossible to search for specific content without knowing the ID (the search function of the IGN Vault pages was terminated just recently, the last strand of service broken.)

The most helpful list would be organized thusly:

Category (IGN), ID# (IGN)

ID# is the most important of the two filters and a title is not necessary unless you want to furnish it. The ID gives access to all the files and the metadata (including screenshots if applicable) that describes the project, installation tips and required or related projects.

Your call, but it would assure at least one organized list exists outside of what used to be IGN Vault.

edit:  BTW, for any other Vault contributors who happen to read this thread, the same goes for your project list (but I would post a dedicated topic for each contributor, I believe would be best).  It's averaging me about 10-15 mins per project uploaded depending on the file size(s) but I am pretty slow at it '<img'> .

You can search by author on the new vault here.

Find this page using the sidebar Recent Content > Contribs (easy to miss if you click through on Recent Content).

Authors can transfer their work to the new vault if it isn't already there - that would have more enduring value than publishing a cross-reference to the old vault.

P.S. I use Google, too, but folk are more likely to look at the new vault.

The cross-reference isn't of value for the authors, obviously.  It is, however, essential for new Vault members (like myself) who are willing to help shorten the completion of the mirroring.

The search you furnished is fine for authors who have loaded their own content to the new Vault. At least it would help to avoid uploading a duplicate if the author has already begun transferring their content over and it can be identified quickly.

Unfortunately, that search doesn't help to identify where in the stack of thousands of folders in the back-up that a specific legacy project is located.  Only the Category-ID combo will do that.  Actually, even just an orphan ID itself helps to narrow it down.  Without the legacy category specified, only 20 directories (i.e. categories) need to be examined to locate which one of the IDs pertains to the one being sought.

I wasn't figuring on waiting for all the original authors to rush to upload all their projects.  Whoever in the community can help expedite populating the mirror of the original Vault, the fewer new players and developers will be lost for lack of access to resources. But their time is as valuable as any others so the procedure should be made as efficient as possible.

If you're just looking for a migration aid, at the present time you can still read the text on the old vault, using the hosts fix:

69.10.25.55 nwvault.ign.com
0.0.0.0 vnfiles.ign.com
0.0.0.0 vnmedia.ign.com
69.31.20.10 vnfiles.ign.com

Only the files and pictures need to come from Rolo's archive.

If authors have any free time, it would be better spent doing migration than creating a further cross-reference, I'd suggest.

Correction : as of this morning, that ip address seems to be dead.

I'll make inquiries as I suspect there is another source of cross-reference information.

Dead before that, Proleric.  Here's the topic in General I posted a few days ago trying to alert others of the service break --> http://forum.bioware...ect-pages-poof/ . Some had indicated it was actually dead before that.

That was the reason for my suggestion in the first place... to locate specific projects rather than just opening folders at random.  I'd rather put my effort into loading content of obvious (or "notorious") value than into a random one that could be unpopular or very limited in scope.  The wayback machine is worthless for this effort since it doesn't index the project category-ID numbers, just titles.  Have yet to find one link in wayback that opens an actual project though others have claimed they can.  What they can do has little impact on what I am experiencing, however.

If you could convince someone to drop what they are doing and reinstate the IGN Vault search engine, that would be ideal and I wish you all the luck in that effort  '<img'>

Just FYI for others, this is my current procedure to load legacy content to the new Vault (i.e.NWVO, my own acronym for Neverwintervault.org):

1) Navigate to a random category of folders (I've been concentrating on hakpaks and modules but sometimes embedded required or related projects forces me to access other categories as well), open one, noting likely ID tags in the metadata.

2) Do as exhaustive search as practical using NWVO's search engine to determine if it exists yet.  If not...

3) DL all metadata, images & project files from the back-up compilation.

4) Populate the NWVO form with applicable data & files.

5) Marvel at the points I got for my efforts.

6) Rinse and repeat steps 1-5 as time permits.

If anyone has a suggestion on how I could streamline my process I would be in your debt.

edit: @Genesis: apologies for pseudo-derailing your original topic. But I hope you are able to furnish a list here, especially if you don't have the time to populate the NWVO database yourself with all your projects.

You could try to google the project title first, some of them are archived by : google, wayback, archive..
