Agrenost - Beneath the Cobbles FINAL v4 (Directors Cut)
(April 2011)
a NWN 1 Module
by Bubba McThudd

This update contains:

- Minor bug fixes and typo corrections.
- 2 new quests (see bartenders at the Red Hound and Sanguine Rose)
- Additional custom content and overall “polish.”
- Custom hands hak.
- New Monk henchwoman.

This update also contains several new items specifically created for this module by Calgacus (they can also be found on the vault).  These items include:

Wand of Gather/Drillmasters’ Horn: When activated, this cunning device instantly teleports your henchmen to your side.  Very useful for keeping your party together when traversing narrow winding streets or twisting sewers!

Potion of Manna:  This rare and powerful potion instantly restores a magic users’ spells just like resting.

Wand of Cleaning/Soap:  These items remove the stench of the sewers of Agrenost from your PC – a handy alternative to visiting the baths.

Nobleman’s Walking Stick:  When activated on an NPC, it usually causes them to move away from the PC – useful for dispersing crowds that sometimes clog narrow streets.

Agrenost: Beneath the Cobbles was a finalist for the AME Golden Dragon Award for Best Roleplaying Module!
-------------
"In my humble opinion this is without a doubt the best module in the Vault, bar none. The atmosphere is quite frankly the best I've ever experienced in Neverwinter Nights 1 or 2.

Agrenost feels alive - you get the sense that even though you're a rising star in the city, there's a lot of big names around you. The way the story weaves together also gives a sense of community, like NPCs are connected; they have their own lives and their own backgrounds, rather than their main purpose being to stand there repeating the same dialogue every time you interact with them.

I've always been a fan of gritty, realistic fantasy, so that's another reason this mod particularly appeals to me. The introductory 'Fight Night' that kicks off the Thug storyline set the mood about as perfectly as I could ask for… The story is amazing, the ability to play through it from five different points of view is - to my knowledge - innovative. Not only that, but once you've played through it as one archetype you're compelled to take a look at it from the other four. Really awesome. Would recommend this mod to everyone."

Beautiful. I'm a big fan of those who don't quite.
And you were right, "Impossible isn't human". '<img'>

Am I wrong or you also made the installation much easier? You'd never cease to amaze me, Bubba, so strong around your module. Long live to it.
I'd try the rogue path some time. From what I remember of it, it's not exactly a spellcaster type of game, strictly talking on a RP point of view.
And it's supposed to be the funniest, right?

That is good news! The walking stick is brilliant
I suppose there's no way to multiplayer it instead of using henchmen.

After playtesting a few times, I find that the Wand of Gather/Drillmasters' Horn in particular makes a world of difference in areas like the Knaves' Maze and the sewers.  Thanks again to Calgacus!

Now back to work on the next chapter, a large scale wilderness adventure.  After seeing Lord of Worms gorgeous Seasonal Forest tileset in action (Visit his PW "Arbor Falls" and marvel at its beauty), I can't stand the sight of the old Rural tileset, so I'm re-doing about 20 maps at the moment.

@TimG  Because of the multiple start points, I think that multiplayer would be problematic.  Has anyone out there tried it?

@jml  I tried to add a bit of humor to all the start paths, but I think the Cult path has some of the best laughs.  Fans of the British comedy team "Mitchell & Webb" will enjoy the scene where the two cultist assassins are getting their orders from the High Priest.

Anything new on the horizon here?  I keep wandering back to Agrenost and hoping for a sequel of some sort
