Infinite Dungeons replacement or cracked version?
« Reply #15 on: August 08, 2012, 04:24:38 pm »

Dunno.  Never bought them when they were for sale.  If you have a serial which was tied to one of the premium modules and it still won't authenticate, I suppose that's it.  A while back I used the Wayback machine to read the shop's terms of service and there was a little clause in there about no guarantee that the digital content would be playable forever, IIRC.

And the premium modules we payed for won't work either then?

Not the one I bought.  The few £s I spent on ID are long gone, and I probably had plenty of value out of it at the time.  But it would be nice if it still worked.

I never really got into Infinite Dungeons, mostly because it seemed like it took a long time to load (both to start the module new and from a saved game).

But, the immediate predecessor of ID (and by the same author) was Elidrin's Random Dungeon Generator. When I am in the mood for an utterly hack-and-slash dungeon run and/or relatively fast-leveling module as a test-bed for character builds, I have had a ton of fun playing RDG.

Pity it's not so good for solo-ers.....

However I have just loaded and started to play infinite dungeons. So there doesn't appear to be a problem with authentication. There may have been back in 2012 but at present it's working for me.

That's very interesting.  Perhaps I should test it.

SF, for sure, RDG is designed for a party, and the encounters tend to be scaled for more than one toon.

Nevertheless, I found RDG to be pretty playable for solo toons. Yes, there are encounters that are tougher and require a bit more strategy. And, frankly, there are some encounters where the best answer for some builds is going to be, "Run!" (When a rogue enters a room with four dracoliches, the question often isn't whether or not he's running, but whether or not he's feared and running...)

Admittedly, I play a slightly modified version of the mod, with few items available in the shops (e.g. healers kits) that help a solo toon fill some gaps and play more conveniently. And, a slightly enhanced forge system.

Good news on ID, though. I had thought that the authentication system now basically just says OK for any auth check, but I have not tested it recently.
