...obtaining items not found in most modules? Not anything like magic, more the odds and ends. For example, I have tried once a cleric multiclass meant to represent a cleric of the Red Knight (forgotten Realms) and am considering trying two other multiclass variants of that deity, these characters usually have a suit of red armor so I would need the red dyes to modify armor to fit the character but not every module has red dyes available.
If you're just looking to customize your character's appearance, recolor your armor etc. you could either try a character management module like the
Pretty Good Character Creator / Customizer by styzgy & hohos or use Kamyrin's
Customize Character Override. I prefer the latter since it allows me to change my characters appearance anytime in almost any module but you might not want to use it if you like the default crafting system since the override will replace the default crafting menu unless you remove Kamiryn's hak from your override folder again.

are any of the Vault's, "less than 1 hour," modules any good
Yes.

and why?
Because some of them tell nice short stories. Because some of them demonstrate innovative systems. Because some of them are funny. Oh, and because it takes "less than 1 hour" to play them.

Does that answer our questions or were you asking for suggestions?

I agree with Tarot Redhand that
Snickersnack! was funny.
Check out
this thread for innovative.
And
The Sunken Shrine of Ahmenkatja is an excellent storytelling module in the "less than 1 hour" category.
