Well, the bad news is that the OC only uses Appraise & Persuade checks (perhaps Intimidate?... can't recall exactly) of the non-combat skills.
There are also a few ability checks scattered about and I think Lore is checked occasionally. I recall a gender check for one quest in Ch 1 and an alignment consequence in Ch 3. But that's about it for the OC. SoU has several more skill checks, though.
If you have a bard of level 6 or higher in your party, have him/her sing before entering the range of the potential negotiator (bard song will raise the opposed skills of any neutrals). If you have Tony K's AI installed you may be able to get Sharwyn to sing on request in the OC.
Each party member will be able to hire their own henchie, have those one-on-one dialogs and individually bargain prices at the shops, but the quest-related convos will be triggered only by the party leader. (In our LAN coops, we usually we let the highest INT member do all the Appraise checks, especially if they happen to be a wizard.
