Henchman won't continue tale
« on: September 12, 2011, 05:10:25 pm »

               Hello everyone!

I have a problem in chapter 3 with my Hench(wo)man, Sharwyn. In all of the previous chapters, I've always completed her tale, each time gaining the belt of performance. But now, I'm in Chapter 3, and she doesn't want to continue her tale, she always keeps saying 'Perhaps later...'. I've searched some info about it, and this site said that I must be level 12 for the final part of her tale. When I started Chapter 3, I was level 11, now I'm 13, and I've nearly cleared every content here, expect for the Creator Race Ruins, and she still refuses to continue. I'm playing on patch 1.69 btw.

I have tried doing the 'Incomplete Henchman Stories' from here, and it did not work.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'm sorry, but you have been misinformed.  Directly from the Henchman Solutions sticky (above):

"The henchmen will tell you their story in parts as you level up, but you have to be a specific level before they will give you their quest reward (level 6 in chapter 1, level 10 in chapter 2, and level 15 in chapter 3). In order to do their quest in chapter 2 you must have done the corresponding one in chapter 1. The same goes for chapter 3, to
complete their chapter 3 quest you must have done both previous quests (chapters 1 & 2)."

In addition, you must have the previous henchquest reward item in inventory.

Cheers!

Damn, if it's level 15, that means I won't be able to do it, since the only stuff left to kill are Klauth, and the green dragon (I don't remember her name), and I doubt they'd give me ~15k XP. I'm so disappointed...

Anyway, thanks for your help!

Anyway, thanks for your help!

You could go mercenary and kill Gorgotha and go back to the Elk Tribe and kill all of them. Then kill all the soldiers at the fort (they usually go hostile anyway depending on whether you handle Damas right or not).  Kinda defeats the RP value to go on such a kill-crazy rage, though.

Have you completed all the sidequests?
All six hench quests in previous chapters.
Rolgan's trial (it's important to get a unanimous decision to receive max XP)
Supply Lines quest, those 3 bad guys
Layenne's Tomb
Eckel's Note
Kill the liar Nax
Both Damas' subquests (catapults & Arness)

You could farm some XP by killing those respawning dwarves and elves inside the Snow Globe but it is tedious work.  In the previous chapter, you could have farmed some decent XP at that pillar where the skels keep respawning but that is in retrospect.

If you've been summoning familiars (or companions) and other creatures to help out, they will leech your XP just as a hench will, approximately -10% XP per member (for kills, not for quest rewards).

Otherwise, try soloing as often as possible, saving the extra members only for the toughest challenges..  Level 15 by the end of Ch 3 is actually pretty low unless you are playing the OC with friends.

The difficulty setting has no effect on XP so you could slide it back a notch to solo, I suppose.

There is one trick that works very well.  I usually do all the combat XP first and belay the quest rewards until just before I leave the chapter. The quest rewards are a static amount but the monster XP is scaled with your character level.  All it means is that you must refrain from delivering some quest items for a while.

If you haven't entered Klauth's cave yet, there is lots of XP to be gleaned there, so that may do it yet! '<img'>
