Hello. I'm in the middle of chapter three, at Beorunna's Well and I need some new armour for my rogue. There is Rogue Links available from the shady character at the inn but I really want Shadow Legion Armour. Should I wait or buy the Rogue Links now?
Grab the links. The other armor may drop randomly or you can use the save/reload trick when opening any future boss chests.... if you have the patience (my wiz usually does this to get the sweet custom alignment mage robes later in the game if it hasn't dropped by then). The higher your PC level, the better the chance to find premium gear.

I've looked it up already and I've read there is no other way to free him because even if you find another slaad's tongue the elemental will only come once. Is that correct?
That is correct. You have a choice between gaining a magical item OR freeing Nax, not both. Loading a prior save is the only way to rectify your decision. RP-wise, it has little consequence but a mercenary PC will net some significant XP from making Nax pay for his deceit.
