Aribeth goes hostile in Chapter 2, In Port Llast...
« on: October 16, 2010, 05:36:29 pm »

So I strolled into Kendrack's barracks, talked to Kendrack about the bounties, did my usual quicksave, turned around and Aribeth is attacking (and being attacked by) Arin(sp?) Gend and four adveturers...  She kills off the adventurers and then is locked in an unending combat with Gend.  I'm sure this is a bug (I've been through this chapter before) but I'm afraid I won't be able to finish this chapter if these two keep fighting as I won't be able to initiate any dialogue.  My last saved game besides my quicksave is way back and I don't really want to have to go back that far.  Any thoughts?

Thanks

               Somehow, your factions changed.

There are some console commands that work (although, in my experience they seemed to be temporary in effect) but a bit more complex than the following routine...

What SHOULD work is to just let your PC get killed.  Unequip all your items (to make it easier to die) and then respawn in your current save.  Write down how much GP & XP you have in case there is a respawn penalty.  You can restore to the original status using GiveXP and dm_givegold if the penalty bothers you.

After respawned, all factions should be reset to the defaults.

Good luck!

I suppose I should have clarified.  Nobody in the melee is hostile to *me*.  Aribeth is hostile to everyone else in the room, but everyone is friendly to me.  Also, all the mercenaries are gone.

I've already restored my old game and started replaying what I lost, but I'm paranoid now and I pop into the barracks every now and then to make sure everyone's getting along.

Too bad about the henchfolk.  Fortunately, you'll be able to reconnect again with them in Ch 3.  But if you can't speak to Aribeth, I don't see how you can finish the module. As to the death/respawning deal...  It doesn't matter where you die.  Just wander out into hostile territory anywhere and take a swing at anything that moves.  When the factions reset, it will reset for all creatures in the module, not just those in a particular area.

In any case, best of luck avoiding any more gliches.'<img'>
