Chapter 2 Final Battle - amatuer hour with cut-scenes?

               Am I the only one who finds the poorly written cut-scenes that run during the final battle at the end of chapter two against the Valsharess' forces very annoying? The constant interruption of spell-casting as each of several cut-scenes starts, the loss of all buffs when some cut-scenes finish (including the one that starts right after telling the wisp that you are done getting set up - meaning that you likely just finished buffing), the fact that the PC is put back in the middle of the courtyard, even if he positioned himself elsewhere (e.g. up in the towers) before the cut-scene, being stuck with DEX of 3 as cut-scenes end, etc. These seem like pretty rough edges to the mod (which is generally fairly polished), IMO.

Maybe I have something in my override that is causing this just for me or is this something everyone experiences? I am trying to decide whether to rewrite the scripts to skip the cut-scenes entirely or to bother fixing them...

               Nah.  You're at least as sane as the rest of we madmen, MrZork.  '<img'>  I must constantly quicksave during that entire battle in case it freezes.  It's done that from Day One, before v1..69 and after, straight vanilla.  After about a half-dozen or so run-throughs I am confident that I can get it to fire the way it was intended, but it is still annoying as heck to know that battle is approaching.

I've searched the Vault for a fix for this, but no luck. '<img'>

               Oh, well. It looks like rewriting the whole cut-scene script would be a bit of a project, but I am making a couple changes so that this is less bothersome to me.

So far, I've rewritten the herald dialog that used to just ask if the PC is ready or not and start the cut-scene if he is. Now, it notes that, if the PC is ready, the herald can give a recon report on the Valsharess' forces' advance. If the PC chooses the report, the cut-scene plays. If the PC  chooses not to hear the recon report, the battle starts without the cut-scene playing. I've just tested this, and it's just what I (and probably anyone who isn't playing for the first time) want.

I may do something similar for the second half of that battle for the CS that plays as the Valsharess' forces enter Lith My'athar proper.
