Viewing players properties.
« on: February 06, 2012, 02:20:58 am »

So when you look at your character sheet as a PC, you can scroll down and see all the properties you have, and when you examine another player (as a PC) you can see the same properites, but why is it as a DM you can't see a player's properties? Am I missing something here?

For me it seems kinda silly not to be able to do this as a DM, especially when haks exist to add properites to a toon in a PW like crit immune. Of course the potential for being baned for such an act is a powerfull disincentive, but it would be easier if DMs could see this by examining a Toon. Is there a work around for this? Or is this an anomoly of my particular PW? And if so, any idea where the setting might reside?

Thanks,
Laz

The DM should be able to see it on the PC,  As long as he is in the same area as the PC.  At least that is how I remember it.

Well that's not the case for me on my mod. When I examine a player as DM I don't see any properties... So is this some strange artifact of our mod, or globally how it works for DMs? And if the latter, any of you know where this setting might be contained? And if the former, any of you have a work around for this huge oversight?

The threat of banning players for such an exploit is pretty effective, but being able to see it as DM, and talk to them first would be much better...

It might be you ini file (what that one that turn off seeing effect on creatures) or something in you mod. Maybe try my HR DM tool you can see everything with it. Just look at there hidden skins, claws, bites for more useful information. '<img'>

Which ini, and which ini setting are you refering to ShadowM? And we do use DMFI, but your package looks nice. Unfortunately we use CEP 2.3, and I take it your's is not CEP 2.3 compatible?

ShadoOoW, care to elaborate? Or better yet, elaborate on a solution?

I have already offered tools to avoid 99% exploits that are known to me, not my problem that most PW admins are too self-conceited and they don't take my advices. Check my submissions at vault if you aren't.

Forgive me ShaDoOoW, I am a newb aDMin. I am not famaliar with all that is nwn, and community content. Hence, I was asking for guidance. To be so smug (in your first reply), vauge, and nebulous (in your second) though does not fit with what I know of you. Have I offended you? You have in fact helped Av3 in the past, and I have really appreciated it.

Ahh well, no reason to be upset if people don't take your advice, that's their loss. I for one have been looking at your dev crit immunity for a while to apply to select bosses to prevent them from being vorped without having to give them crit immune.

This is exellent stuff here ShaDoOoW, thank you very much. I will certainly look into all this.

Examine Effects On Creatures setting in nwnplayer.ini file, but maybe that does not apply here. Oh my system works with CEP 2.3 and 2.4 the only thing missing is the updated lists. That means you can do all the functions just fine. It just not been yet updated to 2.4 DM guide information. It funny how people say it not compatible when it is. I will updating the list information also pretty soon. '<img'>

Hey Laz, you can't see the effects on a player by checking their character sheet but you can if you choose examine (will also show gold and xp). At least i can and since we are both DMing on same server so should you

Thanks for the clarification ShadowM, and thanks for the tip Angus, that will help alot for catching these people. I am still going to look into ShaDoOoW's on client enter thing too, just cause it bites playing big brother (I do not enjoy it at all.)
