"Summon Monster" vocal component.
« on: August 30, 2011, 01:20:36 am »

Hi, i have a "simple" question. When playing NWN1 what does the character says when he use "Summon Monster"?
I'd like to know it beacuse i want to add the true vocal component in my D&D Campaing.

Thanks in advance. ':wizard:'

You wouldn't by chance have rough timeframe of the legacy post, Web?  Maybe we might stumble upon it with the Wayback Machine or whatever it is called.

OP: The 2da lists the sound files as:  vs_chant_conj_lm   (male)  &  vs_chant_conj_lf  (female) for what that may be worth to you... probably nothing. '<img'>  I've played that audio a dozen times but wouldn't even hazard a guess what the language, words or spelling might be.

I can tell you that I have been pulling my hair (and teeth, and toenails) out trying to find this on the WayBackMachine, believe me!

This question gets asked every so often, and it took A LOT of effort on behalf of the Community to actually be able to answer it!

And now...THAT INFO IS GONE!!!!

I have also been unsuccessful in locating it through other sources (like the Vault, Google, etc) - all links lead to the now defunct Legacy forums...*sniff, sniff*

As I recall, there were two distinct chants for each sex - 2 male, 2 female.  I believe they are in latin.  They do not have anything specific to do with the actual spell being cast IIRC.  It could be that there are more, and are related to the spell school, but I am really unsure about that.

Pulled that from the Custom Content Guide v3.0. If it's a full list from the actual game resource, then there's just those soundsets for the spells, and while they are labeled with certain ones, other schools may grab sounds from them.

The chants in BG & BG2 were supposed to be Latin. I don't speak Latin so I couldn't tell for sure. The chants in NWN are gibbereish.

Poor Web has to spend his time hunting through the cached pages rather than setting on the beach, sipping a mai tai and having his back rubbed by froggy little native girls.

His misfortune and dedication is our benefit.  Good work, 'ol man!  '<img'>

Yeah nice work.  If you are asking what was the legacy forum, well that is the old boards where basically 10 years of information, suffered the fate worse than death, which is an old D&D description of losing your character sheet.  Basically they are gone, though if you still have the dedication and persistence, like Web Shaman has, you can dig up some of these old treasures.

The simple "why" answer is, that it got pulled down after hacker attacks on it.  The more complex "why" answer to it is still down, is unknown at this time.

And we do not know if it is coming back online anytime in the near future.

They are essentially the same crew that is listed as admins on this forum.

Believe me. Every possible effort to maintain contact has been attempted.  So months later, here we still are with the same status.  This is beginning to stray off-topic with this line of thought, however.  There are several threads around that you may find informative (historically, that is) to read (or maybe not) about the whole hacked, deactivated legacy deal.

So true.  It was really an incredible resource.  So many great threads.  There a probably 100 threads or so that were really earthshaking an wonderfully informative.  Just for example would be the sticky thread on personal functions, and all the stuff by Jassper, Lilac Soul, Axe Murderer etc... that where just gold.  Like Jonie Mitchell said, "Don't it always seem to go, you don't know what you got till it's gone.'
