               Ok folks!

Now that we are starting to get settled in, we need to turn our attentions to getting organized for the tasks ahead (which are daunting, indeed! '<img'> )

That is namely moving over to here all the important stuff that we, the Community, have created over on the old forum.

Especially the Scripting forum has oodles of gold nuggets that need our care!

Anyone have ideas on how we can best get organized and accomplish these goals?

Sound off, peeps!

That may be a litter harder then you think.  I just did a test on the code and nwscript blocks.  we do not have them over here!!!

Perhaps there are other means to which we can preserve our heritage (for that is what it is).  This thread should be dedicated to finding ways to do just that.

I am not a real scriptor (one could say I "dabble") - any suggestions here?

I'm thinking that while there's a huge amount of good information on the NWN boards, a lot of it is outdated and/or repeated elsewhere - maybe going through the sticky threads and condensing current, relevant information into new stickies would be more efficient than simply mass copy & pasting.

Still a lot of work however we do it, but I bet there'll be plenty of volunteers.

The forum will be archived and read only, so it's not going to go
anywhere soon.

You can also link to any of your posts via the
Social Site under your profile. There is a link called BioBoards
Profile. Click that and it'll search the old forums and locate your old
threads.

You're all welcome to add me as a friend and best of
all, no more members stealing my profile grumpy Hill Giant avatar!

FP!

Hopefully this is true, that all the material will remain, just without permissions set for posting.

Leave it where it is. Nothing stopping people from going back and reading once it has been archived. And some of the stickied threads on the old board date back to '02. These new forums afford the opportunity of a fresh, uncluttered start...

Perhaps we need to then do a sort of "sticky" compilation, with links?

That will be up to the moderator...  if not the bio community manager himself.

Read that archiving or porting is not possible on the NWN2 forums. But I think I saw we will be able to archive here? If so, here's hoping the links don't get broken any time soon.

Well here I am, not crazy about having to recreate my account and having to come here to this invasion of privacy website, but I guess I'll be extremely moderate about it.

As for the good old important info... most will be lost or hard to get to eventually. I wouldn't waste

my time on copying and pasting.

Anyhow, see you guys... sometimes.

I also do not know if the information is going to be avaiable after they archive it.  Here is a post from KooKoo88  http://nwn.bioware.c...37&post=7168001

The Qusetion is the way Chris worded his last answer to KooKoo88

These forums will close (not allow for new threads/posts) on Monday. After this time, we will archive them, but I do not have an eta for this to happen. While they will not allow for new posts, they can still be read until the archiving is complete.

If we are to move (read: copy/paste) anything, then it might be a good idea to have a "public" list of things that are already moved, and maybe another list of suggestions that says what would be good idea to preserve from old forum.  That way we would be better organized and not blindly transfer same staff again and again.

Am still all ears to hear others on the subject, but sooner we get onto it, the better.

Edit and P.S.
After a second thought, I would vote that we update the http://nwn.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

If the old forum is only going to be read-only, perhaps we should just start fresh on the new forums with the latest and greatest content.  And, after all these years, the best solutions should be here...wisdom of the ages et all that.  There is a lot of old information on the old forum.

Lightfoot is correct though...it all depends on what they mean by archiving...I'm not sure why archiving would make it unreadable.  It should just optimize it for static viewing...but I dunno...

Archiving i assume will make it searchable, like the present archive is, but not as readily viewable?

Dunno, Either way, I'm gonna agree that when all is said and done 95% of the stuff we'd want to move.. already exists in the collective heads of those who are moving here.  I'd say handle it all on an As-needed basis.

No sense porting over "Bob's guide to unique item scripting, last updated to handle Sou 11/12/06"

One assumes the way they are already archived...  If you've ever bothered, you can go thousands of message board pages back to the original threads from 2002.  The new topic and reply buttons will be gone, other than that the forum pages will stay just as they are.  I'm pretty sure that even the old Baldur's Gate 1&2 boards from years ago are still archived somewhere.
