Doing Quest
« on: August 30, 2010, 03:52:32 pm »

Playing NWN for the first time. Finding it a little more confusing then BG and BG2.
Am I right in assuming that all quest (both Main and Misc.) received in a chapter must be completed before you finish that chapter?
Just started chapter 1.
Thanks.

You got it! Each quest is only for the module you are playing.

Be wary about the henchman quests.  There are prerequisites in subsequent chapters that must be met for each henchman so that the background and history for each are gradually revealed and awarded.  There are a total of 18 (6 in each, Ch1, 2 & 3) which are worth lots of XP and rewards.  Hopefully, this is not much of spoiler (you still need to follow the clues) during your initial run through the OC.

Have a great time!

Thanks HipMaestro, that really helps. I was really getting a bit confused.

I'm going to assume from what you say, that other then the henchmen quest, it does not matter in which order I do the other quest, just don't finish the Main Quest until last in each chapter.

Thanks again.

That's one of the great aspects of the OC, very little to no linearity. That means you are free to pursue any quest you like at your own pace and it won't affect the overall outcome at all. テつ Jump around to the different areas in any order you like. In case you encounter any overwhelming situations, you can always take up where you left off after leveling up in another area first.

And the henchman quests, likewise. テつ Any order is fine just as long as you finish ALL of them before moving on.

As you have mentioned, finishing the main quest will automatically transition you into another module but even in the case of the main quest, there are options given to you at those points to temporarily postpone the completion process. Consider all the dialogue options that are presented with the NPCs and you should be able to avoid being caught off guard.

Also, as you may notice during your travels, there are a few class-specific quests that are available only to those disciplines. But that is part of the replayability value of the OC... trying out different classes.

Oh... and this should be obvious, but nonetheless never hurts to point it out... SAVE a lot! テつ Keep separate saves (different names)テつ  handy just in case you realize you might have handled a situation differently than you did the first time. テつ It may cost a little more time to backtrack, but will provide you more options.テつ
Relax and enjoy all the depth that you can. テつ More surprises will be waiting for you the next time around!テつ '<img'>
