Thanks for creating a NWN section for us, BioWare.

Shiny.
-
I confess, I'm pleasantly surprised they set up forums for most all of the ones on the old bioboards.
Nice beard Web.
-
Kudos to Bioware and EA for continuing to support this Atari title! I hope they ported over all the old threads, especially the support, toolset, and scripting boards.
-
Thanks, CT! Nice to see you here.
-
I have to say, even if this social site isn't as agreeable to some in comparison to the old forums, at least we're still getting recognition from Bioware - don't know of many companies who'd stretch this far after 8 years.

It heartens me to see that people are so dedicated and prompt. ;[ I was beginning to feel like I was the one of the last of a dying breed.

Greetings to fellow NWN players!
This feel like if from some reason we had to leave old homeland and form a new one here... Oh, well, let us not get all sentimental now! :innocent:

Greetings greetings fellow stargazers! I'm glad the forums weren't just shut down! They are a tremendous resource for those who are keeping the game alive!
-
Hmm... Lookin shiny so far. I could go for a few more project categories, but this isn't too clogged with images and needless Flash (*cough*newBethesdaforums*cough*). Way easier on the eyes, too. Thanks to the higher-ups for setting this up!
Edit: Oh, but do add quick edit and let us link to offsite avvys, please. Nice selection of smilies, though.

i am known as clansunstar on the bioware forums. i changed the name for i had used clansunstar for a long time and i need to have a change of scenery so to speak.

Going to take some getting used to though... I spent the better part of 9+ years on the old boards.
-
Hi, welcome
-
*wades cautiously into the new waters* Ok then. A fresh start.
-
YAY! :3 Thanks, BioWare, it's awesome))))
-
Nice shiny new forum... come on all you DA and ME players, its much more fun over here.
Seriously, it could use a CEP thread and code boxes in the script thread, but it's early days and it's looking good so far.
Thanks Bioware.
-
Kind of a bummer after all these years with the same forum. I guess I'll have to get used to this place (not that I posted that often on the older boards).
Some things I'd like to see for this newer space:
- The ability to add our own avatar image for the profile.
- The ability to reduce the size of the avatar images on the "topics lists" pages of each forum (so more topics can fit on the screen at once).
- The ability to post in real code boxes that preserve spacing/formatting of nwscript.
- A "preview post" button so that we can check what we're going to post before it actually goes live for everyone.
hehe...at least we can now edit our own posts...
edited to add:
- Can a method be added to the "topics lists" pages for each forum that will link you to the first new post made in a thread since you last read it? I've always found it a pain to see that a thread has new replies, but I have to manually scroll through to find the new posts (unless there was only 1 new post, since the last one is linked to).

nwn forever...
-
Thanks...been here for quite some time though.
The Bioware Off-topic forum (that was on the old forums before) was moved here like a year ago or so...
-
Not too happy about this move, as sooner or later we'll have to find a solution that's independent of BioWare's support (which I've got to acknowledge though as long as it lasts, so kudos to the BW team for still reaching out to the NWN community after all this time).
However, I wouldn't want another split and since the choice seems to be go with the flow or abandon the community, this grumpy old sceptic has decided to give in and follow suit for now. You won't get rid of me that easily.

Simply will have to adjust. I saw somewhere someone was saying we could somehow link to all our old posts on the old bioware forums, anyone care to enlighten me?

That is also already there. If you look at the header for any forum thread, on the right, it tells you when the last post was made, giving you an esitmate in minutes,. hours etc... The very last item on that line looks like a green corner, is a direct link to the last post in the thread. IE, the most recent.

Unless I'm missing something that's only for choosing BioWare's avatar images. I think what The Amethyst Dragon meant was using images from other sources than this forum since the selection here is quite limited.

The Amethyst Dragon seems aware of that, too (see bold print). The Question is if you can see e.g. the last threes items, too, instead of just the most recent one.

Now you've got me curious, how come you've got a portrait different from the ones we get for choosing? That's not a custom portrait, is it?

I think its the offspring of a DA dwarf, A pack of skittles.. and spells that shouldn't be a allowed.

Yeah, I'm wondering about the bit that shouldn't be allowed. I thought we couldn't have custom portraits? I want that option, too!

However...it seems that the "Star Wars The Old Republic" MMO has its own site...who knows...maybe when it gets released they will incorporate it here...even though I doubt it.
Maybe a game or two are missing...but yeah...most Bioware games are gathered here now...

I really like the fact that our social profiles can link back to our BioBoards profiles too, so at least that helps to keep the archive close to hand.

No I've looked, and I don't see how to immediately do it. You can click change photo, but you get stuck with the usual avatars from select games (including NWN). However I don't see my old avatars, so I'd like to upload one.

I think I know the theory. I just don't know the exact step to do so.
For any forum users with custom portraits, if you check their in-game character, you will find that they have a character whose portraits photo is the custom portrait. I suspect they do it with steps similar to the following:
- Create a DA character in game and create a save file.
- Inside "Documents\\Bioware\\Dragon Age\\character\\<your_char>\\save_1" (if it is the first save of this character) which will have four files inside.
- Replace the portrait PNG file with the custom portaits.
- Open DA, load the save of that character. Make another manual save again to trigger character files upload onto BSN.
- Wait for the character (include the custom portraits) to be uploaded onto BSN.
- The custom portrait will be availabe in the "Change Profile Photo" page.
-

That kinda clobbers those of us who are strictly NwN, and have no intention of running DA and the likes... stinky! If indeed, that's the only way to have custom avatars...(not that I mind Aribeth, mind you...)
Hello to all you! Character Creator to upload custom image? I checked it out. Looks like it would work...if I felt like installing hundreds of megs of a single program that doesn't really do much just to personalize a forum image. *sigh*
Any chance these boards can be altered to make uploading one's own image easier and not dependent on installing an outdated pre-release utility for a game I'll likely never purchase? I'd even take a short delay for the image to be "approved" by a moderator.

Well met.
Sorry I am little late, but a paladin has to pack a wee bit more than just a few spell papers and sticks of wizards and bards.
There's the long sword, there's the really long sword, there's the great big really long sword. A little shield for trips to and fro, a bigger shield for bigger trips hither and dither, and a great big tower shield for the times I have to also protect the aforetomentioned wizards and bards cowering behind me.
Then there's the chain mail shirt, one with a vee neck for tyr parties, and one with the polo neck for just hanging with Sharwyn. I could go on, but you get the picture. I needed a trunk of holding +5 for the lot, and then I had to drag it here.
I passed Fester Pot on the way, he was in with the dresser having his beard dyed. Wait 'til you see it. Looks like a long range chromatic spell went off short range.
Anyway, finally made it here just after sunset. Well met everyone. Is there a tavern we can all go to, feeling a mite thirsty?
Blessings.

HUGE THANKS to those of you responsible for linking this method.
I also posted a link and thread in the NWN2 forums, providing proper credit all the way around. This one thing alone makes these forums that much easier to take.
I have also been reading the other general suggestions (from both NWN and NWN2) and as an NWN2 moderator, have pitched what I feel are basic necessity feature changes. So again, thanks for all the ideas and constructive comments. I've already pitched the basics along with pointing out that even the DA:O wiki about the things that have been suggested are not new ideas, nor limited to just these new forums.
Any NWN moderators jumping into the fray on the Moderator forums would be most welcome.
Thanks again, everybody!
