Title: Assassin strategy
Post by: Legacy_kukush999 on July 19, 2010, 11:44:23 am

                Hi all!

After a long time I decided to play HOTU single player
again, but this time with assassin type build which depends on stealth and
death attack. Previously I played with a cleric character which was quite easy
(Harm/Heal etc.)

My question is: how do you beat the bosses (dracolich,
Maker, Aghaaz and others) which have (at least, most of them) the true seeing
so they spot me automatically? An assassin which cannot hide is a dead assassin:(

get good melee type henchman, then get decent ac for you and tank that boss
or you can still make sneaks if your henchman tanks the boss (not case of undead...)

Darkness plus Ultravision is a must for Assassins going against those with True Seeing. Unfortunately most if not all bosses are immune to sneak attacks. For the Maker and Dracolich I went back and got Valen. Giving him the Angel's mace can be useful against them. I didn't use any help against Aghaaz (the demon golem right?), just the darkness with ultravision combination. If you save the Angel I believe you can ask her to help you against the Dracolich instead of the the battle against the drow.

re: Angel, i.e Deva

Never tried that myself.  I must give it a shot in my next game.  Great tip!

Actually, I believe you can have the deva help in both fights (if my memory doesn't betray me).
